[edit] Organisation

[edit] Main business interests

The Corporation is an organised crime syndicate. Robbery, extortion and theft produces some of their income but they also run a number of operations both illegal and legal around the Isles, on the mainland United States and abroad. They own majority or partial stock in dozens of companies around the globe, leading to a finger-in-many-pies or 'kingpin' situation. Money is moved via offshore accounts, leaving few if any real traces back to the parent company. It holds stock in Aeon Tech, Freedom Corps., Crey Corporation, Hero Corps. and parts of the liquidated Lockhart Aerotech - though all of this stock is held by front companies with no links to The Corporation itself. The group also enjoys shares in various global banks and charitable organisations through which it maintains an eye on trouble-zones across the globe, lending shipping rights and port-access to various struggling governments in exchange for lucrative contracts and exclusivity. On occasion, they also take on contract assignments such as specialized theft and assassinations. After the attack on the Mutant population during the Supremacy incident the Corporation have taken a great interest in their survival; seeking to help them out knowing that they will make strong allies if Recluse (who barely tolerates The Corporation's existence) should ever wage war.

[edit] Current Affairs

The Coporation has undergone various internal changes, the aftermath of which having led to a change of headquarters and a reshuffle of ranks and promotional requirements and status. Ouvert activities within the Isles have lessened, with only a recent secret meeting between various criminal elements of the Isles drawing the presence of three Corporation representatives to a New World Alliance gathering, headed by Doctor Mechano. The Corporation representatives left the meeting when it devolved into petty displays of power and egoism among the other participants.

At present the group is strengthening its hold on the out-of-house projects. 'Rumour' and 'Perplexité' are also pouring investment into The Sophie Michaux Foundation; an academy for underpriveleged and gifted young people where they can get an education and learn to better control their burgeoning powers. All investigations into the academy reveal it to be fully legitimate and above-board with excellent standards of education.

[edit] Shell companies and side projects

Upon the disappearance of Mr. Sebastian the Corps old shell companies have been given their independence.

Villain Wear, one of the Corporations fronts has been given over to Ms. Madeline, the current owner, to run in John's absence.

Corpmunitions Limited was handed over to the board of directors within the company. It is now run by a man known only as Lucias. The Corp no longer has any claim over the company.

Cortex Technologies Ltd is actually a side project started recently by Techbot ALPHA to generate extra income and provide useful contacts. ALPHA sends a large chunk of the profits straight into Corporation accounts.

[edit] Departments

The Corporation headquarters is divided into departments:

[edit] Operations

This department deals with the security of the Corporation and is involved in such activities as guarding the group’s main base, performing strikes against our enemies and weapon distribution. This department also includes members specialising in the art of Black-Ops who are responsible for duties such as assassination, intelligence gathering and counter-intelligence.

[edit] Technical & Research

Officers in this department take care of the research, development and manufacture of new technology for the Corporation. This includes anything from weaponry and armour to power generators and computers.

[edit] Medical

Our medical-bay is our most important facility. Here our wounded are treated and our medical research is performed. This department also conducts research into explaining the manifestation of meta-powers, new methods of biological warfare and developing and testing performance altering pharmaceuticals.

[edit] Arcane

This department is exactly as it says on the tin. They focus on Enhancement, Warding, Scrying, Imbuement and any other forms of magic that The Corporation may come across. This department is also tasked with studying Ghosts, Vampires, Were-Creatures and anything else that is widely not considered 'Normal'.

[edit] Joining a department

Membership of each department is completely voluntary; members who feel they have skills relevant to a department may apply to join. The application process varies for each department but mostly consists of a brief informal interview with a Director about why the member wishes to join a given department and how that will benefit the department itself. Directors and Managers have final say about who belongs in a department and members who are deemed unsuitable for a particular department may apply at a later date to show they have increased their suitability.

[edit] Corporation Rules

These rules are currently under revision, details will change in due time.

1. First and foremost all members must follow the rules set by the Chairman to the letter; discipline is the lifeblood of a Corporation

2. Orders from superiors must also be obeyed to the best of member ability.

3. No infighting. Any and all disputes are to be brought to and settled by the Chairman or directors.

4. If you feel a settlement or order by a director to be unfair you may appeal to the Chairman about it but the Chairman’s decision is final.

5. Aid your fellow members whenever possible.

[edit] Headquarters

It's lonely being the boss.

The Corporation headquarters is located deep within the bedrock beneath the hospital in Sharkhead Isle. The entrance is unknown to any but Corporation members and their allies via secure teleporter. No-one is completely sure what the space was before it was converted into the Corps base. All power is generated internally, with surge-protection in place to prevent computer malfunction should the power supply overload.

Computers responsible for the day-to-day running and monitoring of the base are isolated from the internet entirely, with no hard-line or wireless access to the outside world. Personal computers are protected from intruder attack by layers of up-to-date firewalls and antiviral programmes. A combination of magical and technological barriers blanket the base to ward off invasion and, should they fail or be bypassed, the base is also protected from within by combination of arcane, energy-based and conventional weaponry.

Recently the more social areas of the base have been improved and added to, including work on a hot-tub in the garden and an Olympic-sized swimming-pool with cocktail bar and jaccuzzi. Apartments for the members are also under contruction, with a new one completed on average once a week. The Corporation's library is currently being added to by Aquis and her fellow arcanists, whose book-collecting has added many valuable and rare tomes.

[edit] Recent activities

(( Pictures from Recent Social Events can be found here! CLICK IT! ))

(Most recent first)

Ouvert activities within the Isles have lessened, with only a recent secret meeting between various criminal elements of the Isles drawing the presence of three Corporation representatives to a New World Alliance gathering, headed by Doctor Mechano. The Corporation representatives left the meeting when it devolved into petty displays of power and egoism among the other participants.

Roughly two months ago members of The Corporation joined forces with The Krimzon Guard in tracking and capturing a rogue Fortunata agent who represented a danger to all islanders, from civilians to ranking Arachnos officials and more. Little is known about the captured Fortunata save that she was responsible for the brutal killings of dozens of Arachnos troops in and around Fort Cerberus. Her fate at this time is unknown.

There are undercurrents; if you listen in the right places or ask the right beings, whispering that the recent atrocities against the family in the sharkshead area are not due to scrapyarders (as Arachnos is widely reporting). Instead these shadows whisper that these are due to a resurgent corp, finding its previous domain usurped, retaking ownership for the area-brick by brick and body by body.

The Corporation were once doing business with the mercenary group EVIL but chose to side with the members who left and formed the now disbanded Pact. This had made relations somewhat strained between the two companies but no hostilities have yet to take place.

John Sebastian vanished shortly after the events in Paragon City that fuelled mutant hatred (Supremacy) The Corporation were involved in several battles and quickly fell into hiding until things blew over. When contact was started up again, John did not reply. It has been over a month since the Corp raised its head again and John has yet to be found along with his Fiancée Jaqueline Thornwood. Fearing the worst William, John's closest friend, has taken up the fallen reins and has started reorganising the company.

[edit] Adversaries

[edit] Current

After their re-emergence the Corporation immediately set about consolidating their position and reclaiming their old interests. This has made The Corporation come in conflict with the Marcone family who also have interests in the area. The current area of conflict is the Corporation’s old stomping grounds: Port Recluse, which, being a port with easy access is a perfect inlet for illegal wares.

Arachnos had a shaky truce with the Corporation, which erupted into conflict shortly after William took up the helm from John Sebastian. Arbiter Jones was ordered to bring the Corp back into line, which in itself led to a whole new story. As of late, the truce is slowly returning, given recent events. But they are possibly far from over...

[edit] Previous

The traitor, Callum Riches, was executed by Headbreaker for selling information to the Court of the Blood Countess. Callum was killed in front of several members of the Corporation and former coalition members EVIL. His body was taken away by a group of heroes.

Professor P Technos was also ejected from the group after making himself exceedingly unpopular with various members. His later act of coming into conflict with Techbot ALPHA apparently sealed his ejection. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Last Laugh was recently outed due to her disruptive nature and various hostile acts against Corp members. The board of Directors decided enough was enough and fired her, revoking her rights to the base and effectively sealing her out.

[edit] OOC

[edit] Info

The Corporation is a serious role-playing criminal group. We RP in all channels, considering the SG, Coalition, Team and other such chats as radio communication. We have an OOC channel for most OOC talk, but main channel talk is allowed as long as you use the brackets. Example: ((gratz)).

You may join at any level with almost any type of character. Characters under the age of sixteen will not be considered for membership. Characters between the ages of sixteen to eighteen will be considered if sufficient reasonable explanation is given as to why they should be allowed into an organised criminal business.

You are limited to one main character initially but may bring in an alt once your first reaches level 35 and has attained Agent rank. Once either the first or second character has reached Manager rank, another alt is permitted for a total of three characters, rewarding dedication to the group and prestige gain.

We do not require that you have any previous role-playing experience and are happy to help new players. We do expect a certain level of competancy in grammar and spelling. Leet-speak and txt-msg contractions are not acceptable in any IC speech.

[edit] Contact Details

Send an application to any of our Directors or Managers, either ingame email or on our forums. Your application should be in-character and contain a short description of your character and why you wish to join the Corporation.

Alternatively you can seek out a member of The Corporation in our usual watering hole of the Jolly Roger (Redbar) in Pocket D and ask IC to be put in touch with someone that can help.
