Savage Angel
From Handbook of the Union Universe
Savage Angel, the Warrior of the Ages. Um, excuse me? The chosen one, whose destiny is handed down throughout time, unto every generation a.. You what? Destiny my ass. Stupidity is more like it. Kindly don't interrupt. Ah yes, she is the one who will bring about... Right. That's it. Get out of the way, Mac, and let me explain this. My way.
"I'm Savage Angel. I got suckered into this hero thing because some god with more power than brains got made an offer he couldn't refuse by his adoring, but not quite foresighted worshippers. So I got it in the neck. And head. And body. Now, I suppose I'm used to it, and occasionally, it's even fun, but seriously, when you consider what I went through to get here, I'd far rather he'd have taken his destiny and shoved it."

[edit] Affiliations
Savage Angel is not currently affiliated with any of the hero groups, although she is thought by some to be a student of Jester Savage, and seems to be on talking terms with several of the Unity Vigil and New Vigilants
[edit] Personality
Angela is a peculiar mix of world-weary cynical, and enthusiastic cheerfulness. Having a building dropped on you will do that to you, though, so it's not like that's anything unusual. While she's always grateful that she actually still has a life, she's always been just a little resentful about the necessity that triggered the whole thing.
[edit] Motivation
Angel has a very weird heroic motivation, to be perfectly frank. Mostly, she's happy to be a hero, but she does seem to mutter about being suckered into it. These days, she mainly does it because her abilities are well suited for it, and it's either that or cheat at the Olympics really, which, let's be fair, does tend to put one at odds with the entire damn planet. Now, it's just easier to get on with it, and Use Those Powers For Good™. At least this way, she can ensure it's going to be a good long time before some other sap gets stuck with her destiny.
[edit] Powers
[edit] Primary Powers
Angel is a wielder of twin swords. Often rapiers, often nano-edge blades, she is a two-handed combattant of upcoming skill.
[edit] Secondary Powers
Angel shows a varied powerset in defense. She is stronger, tougher, and faster than most, due to the effects of the rebuilding of her body by nano-augmentation. This also speeds up her healing factor and reflexes. She also exhibits enhanced senses, a surprisingly strong will, and an impressive natural mental block. Suspected to be part of the whole "destiny" part of the deal.
[edit] Additional Powers
[edit] Travel
Angel has become a prodigious leaper, helped by a couple of inertial dampers built into her belts.
[edit] Power Pool
Probably thanks to her training and augmentations, angel very definitely is reaching a peak of physical fitness.
[edit] Abilities
Mostly unknown at this point. Angel has mostly not been inquired into too deeply by the various minds at the statue. However, she does seem, albeit slowly, to be picking up an amount of nanotech theory from the Doctor.
[edit] Vulnerabilities
While she is faster, stronger and tougher than a regular human, she isn't as fast, strong, or tough as some of the metas that are concentrated on those areas. She is more a generalist. She also appears to get occasional amnesia and weirdness, seemingly due to imperfections in the repair process to her brain after her trauma.
[edit] Equipment
Various artefacts of nanotechnological origin, as made for her by Doctor Savage. Folding nano-weave battle armour, collapsible non-eutatic nano-extruded solid blades, Twin rapiers.
[edit] Character History
Being a god means you're omnipotent. Doesn't mean you're necessarily very bright.
The schtick itself is as old as time. We shall create a warrior, the Savage Angel, one in every era who will carry the fight to the forces of evil, whoever he or she is, wherever they are needed. Yeah. that'll be the ticket.
Depressingly, those "higher powers" were notoriously unspecific about the exact mechanism by which their suck^h^h^h^hchosen one was empowered. A neutral observer is fairly sure they didn't consider massive bodily trauma, months learning how to move and walk again, and highly experimental and dubious nanotech processes as a mechanism. Nobody would be so dumb as to not exclude the possibility that their agent might have been killed before they even got started. Or turn into a pile of grey goo.
Yeah. Nobody's that daft. Are they?

[edit] Trivia
- Her hospital room was overwhelmed when around fifty people brought her grapes one afternoon. Nobody knows why. Even the grape-bringers.
- Angel has occasionally referenced someone called Mac, who, from the collected snippets and reading between the lines, appears to be either some kind of Mystic Construct Spirit Guide, or a figment of her damaged brain's imagination. Nobody's ever managed to get a sensible answer as to which it is. One wag has speculated that it may be both. Angela, however, gave that particular wag short shrift. And a Kick In The Goolies.
