Liberty Defender is the first 'Corporate Social Heroism' (a concept based on Corporate Social Responsibility[1]) Hero to be fully supported and funded by a division of the global corporation known as League Associated Industries.
Liberty is the CEO of Armourworks, a high technolgy company that has world renown for top-quality (and top-price) armours, force-fields, and weaponry. Armourworks was aquired by LAI as it shut down its own arms production company, Ironguard once discovering that criminal activities had been going on there.

Liberty Defender's role is to assist Hero Corps just if they were the ones paying his wages. He is not actually a Hero Corps employee, however, but is rather on loan or seconded to their service.

Warm, friendly, charming, intelligent, and deeply caring, Liberty Protector appears to be well placed in a city named Paragon.
[edit] Motivation
Liberty Protector is a corporate sponsored hero funded by the huge multi-national corporation League Associated Industries. The league was horrified to learn of some unsanctioned and illegal uses its resources were used for, and has decided to fund ts own hero to police its operations and protect its interests. Liberty Protector is a public icon for the company, and a superb choice in that role.
Liberty Protector goes out of his way to provide assistance and support to the city, even dedicating a lot of time to visiting schools to inspire the children to avoid gangs, and respect the truly heroic virtues.
Liberty Protector has a lot more concern for private property, and collatoral damage than is typical for heroes. He sees the protection of property, and the defence of industry, as a vital part of keeping Paragon City thriving as a place to live and work.

Liberty Protector uses the power of illusion to take down criminals relatively painlessly without causing harm to property, or bystanders.

Although his mode of travel has never explicitly been revealed in briefings, Liberty Protector has a pilots licence for a wide variety of aircraft, and most recently gained a piloting licence for jet-pack technology.
. Several recent photographs have been printed that show him in flight, and Armouworks recently offered a new line of Rocket Boots, dubbed the RB-3 which they claim are identical to the ones now worn and used by Liberty Protector.

Liberty Protector has obviously extensive business knowledge, and LAI have confirmed that he holds an MBA from Harvard University. He's a skilled spokesman with great charm, and has excellent leadership skills.
He has been extensively trained for combat at some time, and shows great composure in any confrontation. He has superb fitness and athleticism, and obviously keeps fit.

His main equipment is a specially built combat suit with helmet. The suit is a prototype built by top weapons manufacturer Ironguard, a subsidiary company of the technology division of League Associated Industries.

Undisclosed. Statements from the offices of LAI insist that his secret identity is guarded in order to protect his family and friends.
There are of course many rumours about his possible background and history, but many are quite wildly fanciful.
Ony the most recent history is known. He has very high level security clearances (which has fuelled many of the rumours that he is ex-CIA or FBI). In the blitz of media attention surrounding the announcements by LAI, he has been photographed with the Mayor of Paragon City, been seen chatting informally with Miss Liberty over dinner in a very exclusive restaurant, and was the guest speaker at one of the leading technology seminars in Steel Canyon.
He was photographed in various heroic endeavors, including everything from busting a coven of the Cirle of Thorns involved in kidnapping, to arresting an entire gang of Hellions that had been repeatedly vanadalising property in the Kings Row neighborhood, to finding a lost boy who had become separated from his mother while she shopping in Steel Canyon.

As the new figurehead for the reknowned arms company Armourworks, Liberty Protector readily assists heroes and organizations with advanced weapons, armour, shields, and related support systems. The reputation of Armourworks is second to none, and they are often regarded as the best manufacturer available for very lightweight armours and force fields.
Liberty Protector is quite expert in matters relating to armours, force fields, power systems, and of course, weaponry. What he can't personally answer, he can certainly refer to his staff of world-class experts.
