Under Construction, more to follow

Knightwatchman was originally a concept I had for a Broadsword/Dark Armour Scrapper I played for a while. In game terms Knightwatchman II was that original character, and Knightwatchman I came about as part of the origin for his mystic blade. Knightwatchman III came about once trenchcoats were released, and I had a new darker image for the character. Because by then I had actually made rumblings that Knightwatchman had been killed I needed a way of justfying the swordsman's appearance. Although I could of just said it was someone who took the name, in a momement of madness I decided to instead tie the two together. Finding the BS/DA almost unbearable to play due to endurance downtime I decided to reroll him as a DB/WP scrapper, using the breaking of the Heretic Blade as the justification for his new powers, as well as allowing me to simplyfy his RP personality.

[edit] Affiliations

Knightwatchman in his various incarnations has been affiliated with a number of individuals and organisations.

[edit] Knightwatchman I (Henri Gaston)

[edit] Knightwatchman II (Peter Nash)

  • Minor dealings with various factions of the Skull gang when he was a fence in Kings Row.
  • Was a member of the Paragon City Protectors for a short time, until he was apparently killed by Humanity First's Partisan. The PCP was later informed that he wasnt killed but had been critacally wounded forcing him into early retirement from the team.

[edit] Knightwatchman III (Donald Tristan)

  • Former adept of the Midnight Squad until his reported death during the bombing of their headquarters during the first Rikti Invasion.
  • Brief member of the Dawn as Tristan struggled to assert his personality onto Nash's body.

[edit] Personality

  • Henri Gaston was a cold, and embittered warrior. Angry at how his order was persecuted after years of faithful servant, with very little in the way of social skills.
  • Pete Nash was a streetwise, easygoing, fun loving minor criminal who as long as he made a buck or two was pretty content with his life. Once he aquired the Heretic Blade he became a nervous hero, terrified of succumbing to the sword's curse.
  • Donald Tristan was confident, inquisitive, and occasionally philosophical. For the most part he was practical, and cool under pressure, but once faced with his own mortality his fear of death made him selfish, reckless, and impulsive. When he first started to inhabit Nash's body, and up until he destroyed the Heretic blade his personality was a schitzoprenic mix of his, the other Knightwatchmen, and also partly influenced by the blade's own malevolent spirit. With the blade broken his personality has returned mostly to normal, although slightly tinged with the other personalities.

[edit] Motivation

  • Henri Gaston's original motivation was revenge against those who persecuted his order. He later became a hero of sorts as a means of frustrating the malevolent spirit of the Heretic Blade.
  • Pete Nash took up the mantle of Knightwatchman in the hopes of breaking the blade's curse by using it only for good, and perhaps atoning for some of his own misdeeds.
  • Donald Tristan had originally joined the Midnight Squad to help combat the unspeakable terrors he knew preyed on Humanity. Later his studies into dark magics had instilled a deep fear of death into him, and his primary motivation became to escape the Reaper. As the third Knightwatchman he is desperately seeking an alternative host for his spirit before Nash's body finally gives out. Although generally self absorbed about his own mortality he still feels a moral obligation to help defend others against the many evils in the world.

[edit] Powers and Abilities

After breaking the Heretic Blade, and asserting his own personality over the other influences onto Nash's body. Donald Tristan found that his own magical prowess severely diminished. Whereas before he'd been a fairly proficient magic user the long period of separation from a physical body, psychological trauma, as well as the damage and decay sustained by his current body had severely diminished his magical ability. Also much of his original arcane knowledge has been seriously fragmented, forcing him to instead rely on the swordsmanship skills absorbed from the memory of Henri Gaston, as well the heightened resistances, and willpower provided by his essentially undead status.

Despite losing almost all of his mystic might, he still retains some of his Alchemy and Necromantic knowledge which he uses to stabilise the decay of his body. He is also constantly researching various means of possibly providing a solution for his predicament.

[edit] Vulnerabilities

Knightwatchman constantly needs a series of treatments with various potions, and elixirs in order to slow the physical decay of his body. Also thanks to the sheer amount of mystic energy required to keep just to keep himself tethered to, as well as in actually animating Nash's body, he now finds it incredibly difficult to use any other magical abilities unless instinctive, or ritual in nature.

[edit] Equipment

  • Formally the Heretic Blade. A sword forged by Henri Gaston, and bound with a malevolent spirit of darkness. It was said that the souls of those slain with the blade were devoured and denied the afterlife. Also once wielded forever would the fates of blade and bearer be entwined. The Sword was finally destroyed after a truly heroic feat of will power by Donald Tristan.
  • Longtooth, and Little Fang- the black bladed sword, and dagger currently used by Knightwatchman.
