The daughter of powerful mastermind in St. Martial enrolled in his Legacy project to keep the family together after his death. Cybernetically enhanced and designed to be the hacker, assassin, Saboteur and muscle for the future Schneider consortium. When the project was sabotaged, the horro of what she had become crashed over her and she broke loose, travelling to paragon City to start a new life, but keeping a vary eye out for the things in her old life.

The Schneider family
Doktor Schneider. Her father and a keen technological mastermind who rather than rise in power to enter Grandville, settled down on St. martial and began to build his own little financial empire there.
Angela Schneider. Her twin sister, and a mastermind as well, whom she has a mixed view at. While the sister apparently has helped her behind the scene, Regina is wary of her intentions...

While seeming cold and calculating on the outside, sometimes playing the "logic cyborg" role to the hilt, there are three things that defines karnefex's nature and personality:
Borderline schizofrenic due to her internal (half finished?) computer systems that guides and "talks" to her, especially since they seem to be at odds from time to time regarding solutions to current problems.
Deeply caring and loyal for people in need of her talents and the people who has helped her out in the past. Especially children in need of help seems to be one of the things that can really tick her off.
Determined to the extreme. Whatever Karnefex puts her mind to is going to be accomplished, no matter the (sometimes insane)odds.
=Motivation= Her prime motivation is to build a new life and find some measure of peace. She deeply hopes that some of the changes made to her can somehow be reversed

A rich girl who grew up on St. martial in the lab of luxury. She enjoyed ballet and litterature being quite a reader in her younger days, and never quite developed the spoiled mischievous nature that her twin sister did. She spend some time in Japan at some of her fathers Yakuza affiliations, learing the art of the Katana before she was called back to St. martial to act as her fathers left hand in the consolidation of his empire.
Her father growing old then began the Legacy project, a project designed to divide the Schneider empire evenly between his two daugthers. far too often had he seen the children of deceased fellow collegues go at each others throats before the body was even cold and he began setting up the project in order to prevent this in his own family. Angela was to handle the outwards appearences of the many Schneider corporations while Regina was to handle all the secret projects. A way of ensuring that the twins would need each other in order to suceed in the harsh criminal enviroment of the rogue islands.
During a party Regina met a handsome young man who seduced her and made her pregnant. Deciding on keeping the baby she fell ill with the Chronenberg syndrome in her late terms. an agressive ailment much like schlerosis inherited from her mother's side (who died giving birth to the twins because of the syndrome)which is triggered when females become pregnant, her father rewrote the legacy project to have the dying form of her sister refitted with an almost completed cybernetic body. In the meantime her sister who had taken the codename Femme Fatalia stayed close to her, watching her get more and more ill while she tried to carry the child to terms, refusing to have an abortion, as well as refusing to give up the father's identity. When he child was born, it was braindead and riddled with the Chronenberg syndrome and died a few hours after the birth, and Doctor Schneider initated the rewritten Legacy Project.
Finding out about this plan, Femme Fatalia sabotaged the project, presumably in order to inherit the whole Schneider fortune, but Regina (by the codenamed as Carnifex) survived the sabotage and fled in horror of what she had become into the streets of the rogue islands, half insane with the harsh reality of her new cybernetic body crashing down on her due to the unfinished process of the legacy project. She eventually made it to Paragon City where she finally found some rest, and began to collect the pieces of her broken life.

While you can't make a character with claws and a secret project without thinking of wolverine, the old classics like Frankenstein, Pinocchio, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was used as my prime inspiration for Karnefex. The Legacy project was designed for her to eventually rule (with her sister) the organisation that made her, not make her a mere weapon or tool to be controlled. Had the Legacy project been allowed to be completed she would most likely have been transformed into a character that would most likely be a mix of Boba Fett and Mokoto Kusanagi (the female cyborg from Ghost in the shell S.A.C)
