Her past is locked up tight by Crey, she's been known to be seen all over Rogue Isles, newcomer to Paragon

Jessika Karde was originally meant to be a non-played character, a piece of Viessa's past that was to haunt her every now and then. But unfortunately, after Viessa finally did her mother's spirit in, I somehow ended up putting Jessika's fragmented soul into Veskit's head. And by a series of pretty strange events Jessika is not only amongst the living, but she's trying to reform herself and become a good guy.

Jessika is -frighteningly- powerful, which is one of the primary reasons that I had no intent to actually roleplay the girl, but she seems to have a place amongst the living now, so I'm generally going to RP her the very best I can without destroying all in her path, ruining peoples days, or any sort of that kind of nonsense. A one time plot device that sort of took a mind of its own, so I'm going to run with it and see how it goes. A god character who's personality I fell in love with.

Here's to responsibility, eh? She'll be played maturely, I promise.

[edit] Affiliations

People:

  • Veskit- Significant other
  • Chlorr- Significant other (... Yes, I'm totally serious. >.>)
  • Viessa Karde- Daughter

Super Groups: The Fletched Alliance- Loyalty simply lies there because Veskit is in it.

[edit] Personality

Bitter, angry, and short tempered, Jessika is slowly learning to warm up to people. In truth its something of a uphill battle for her, but she's slowly getting the hang of it. Once on her good side, she's very protective and caring... something like a motherly protectiveness of the people she's fond of.

[edit] Motivation

Jessika is motivated by a few things in her life, she has a fierce protectiveness of her child, which in her eyes she needs to redeem herself to. She often bites her lip before saying harsh things to people close to Viessa's heart out of respect for her daughters wants and cares. She also has a personal want to turn over a new leaf, and with Veskit's and Chlorr's guidance she is slowly doing just that.

[edit] Powers

Jessika's powers were developed as a small child, and though technological awakening and conditioning by Crey, she turned into a beast of a Psychic. And if anything, the twisted nature of her death pushed these abilities to unconditional levels. Her psychic potential are bar none, and Jessika often gets enjoyment by destroying a hero/villain's mind piece by piece. Levitation and manipulation of matter comes second nature to her as well, be it crushing a soda can with her mind, or turning a tank (or a person) into a rubics cube, it has to be pretty darned dense for Jessika not to manipulate it.

Her mind powers are clearly her dominant trait, there's an extremely large amount of metals and technology she simply would not be able to crush. Much of Red Commissar's and Shadowe's gadgets are simply out of her league. Despite all of this, there's also a deep magical side she began to develop during her time with the Circle of Thorns. Jessika was quick to master, and can perform many magical feats, though not nearly as potent as a true Magus or magi. She sees this as a falling, and often spends weeks upon weeks working on her magical mastery. Her magical mastery has taken a very, very interesting turn as of late... inspired by keeping her daughter safe from harm, she's taken up empathy. She's grown fond of her abilities, and has pretty much abandoned destructive magic.

[edit] Additional Powers

She possess the Tomb of Tormvodel, a extremely powerful tomb that she stole from Arachnos. Its rumored that one of Arachnos' 'Destined Ones' were planning on using this very tomb to bring Ghost Widow back to life, but instead betrayed her to advance in Arachnos's ranks. The book had since been ignored, and Jessika was more then happy to take it off there hands (and by take, I mean steal). Jessika is often seen with this chained to her side. The book is doing a fantastic job of not only giving her a very, very human Avatar to work with, but also make her immortal, ageless.

[edit] Travel

Jessika Uses Psychic ability to fly, She's considering brushing up on her teleportation abilities as well.

[edit] Power Pool

For all your mission based, hero side needs, be it in character or out, Jessika is a Empathy Defender with Psychic Blast as secondary. And of you wonderful boys and girls out there need a healbot, I'm your gal. ;)

On Villain side Jessika is a stalker, while we all know stalkers are not the best group partners, if you need some Assassins Strike, I'm good for that as well.

[edit] Abilities

As strange as it might sound, being the psychic that she is, Jessika has trained herself quite soundly with a Ninja Blade. She wields it with accuracy, precision, and finesse. But do -not- mistake this for strength. She know's where to strike, and with her magic abilities can make herself neigh invisible. In Short, she can become a decent Assasin, but other then knowing key points, where to cut and how, she's very weak, and it takes little effort to squash her.

[edit] Vulnerabilities

Considering her frightening psychic powers and skills with a Ninja Blade one wonders how they would off someone like Jessika. Truthfully, its far simpler then you would think. She's weak, very weak. Her abilities as a swordswoman relies souly on stealth and technique, and her psychic abilities, while extraordinary, can only get anyone so far. Stab her in the back and she's down for the count. Kick her in the face? That's probably all you'll need to do. And don't even get me started on snipers.

Granted, its extremely hard to sneak up on a psychic. But it can be done, its been done before, and probably will continue to be done long into the future. So if your looking to get a little Jessika blood on your sneakers, play it smart and you'll probably do A-ok.

[edit] Equipment

When doing the stealthy stalker bit, Jessika has a pair of tech goggles, for when magic and psychic fail her. She's often seen in black robes when getting down and dirty with the bad guys, and in her white, often overly revealing vest, skirt and full body fishnets when just being her bitter and grumpy self.

She also possess a Ninja blade, usually with an enchantment of some sort on it.

[edit] Character History

((You should probably go get a Hot Pocket or something, this is a pretty long one...))

Jessika Karde was a powerful psychic, even at a young age she showed deadly potential in her abilities. Her father, William Karde, saw great potential in her and sought to use her for his own gain. And so he embarked on a quest to control every aspect of his daughter. And thus, project Helios was born.

As Jessika grew in age, she was forced into more and more tests of her ability. She was raised to kill, to destroy you mind, crush your soul, and leave nothing left. Jessika assumed that if she did everything daddy told her she would eventually earn her freedom, and hopefully something else she wanted even more then that... her fathers love.

Unfortunately for poor Jessika at the age of ten the exact opposit of what she wanted happened. In the end Jessika's father sealed her away from the world, sealed her into complet and total darkness. Poor Jessika had a unfortunate mishap, she lost a solid grip on her powers and this resulted in the killing of several project Helios members. The result of this mishap was that Crey decided to pull the plug on the project. Crey also had decided that in order to protect the members of project Helios from Jessika any further, she was to be locked away in a containment feild which Crey ended up naming "The Vault". (Yes, astoundingly original, I know) She was kept inside of The Vault utill the age of 20, it was during that time she was taken out of the vault by William, despite this being under direct violation of Crey's wishes.

William's team had created specialized technology that would be able to keep Jessika under control, And William wanted nothing more then to take a crack at controling her daughter once more... but it was much to late for Jessika. She had already lost her will to live, her love of life slowly drained from her upon being taken out of the Vault. She was a hollow shell of a woman, and William soon gave up on Jessika, he had hit a road block in his plan... at least until he came up with an idea that would allow him to start over.

William was uncertain if Jessika's gifts were genetic from his wife, or if it was a mere case of the bond between parent and child.

Was Jessika's tallents a spiritual connection? Or was it a genetic pass-me-down? they were unable to come up with an answer. So they decided to kill two birds with one stone, Jessika in the end was impregnated with her own genetic material. Unfortunately, William's plan was to be rudely cut off. Crey learned that he reopened the vault and they fully intended to close it back up, and in a desperate bid to keep his pet project going he sought the Circle of Thorns, who were already deeply interested in Jessika.

William was successful in escaping with her daughter, but unfortunately she was already upon deaths door, and she died during childbirth. She screamed for her daughter, which she named Viessa, as they took her. And as she passed away, her hate for life swelled. And unfortunately for the project Helios team, the dead do not change. In a fit of rage Jessika entered Viessa's mind.

The dead do not change, Jessika died angry, bitter, depressed, with a heart filled with pain. And so that is how she remained. And Viessa's life turned into a nightmare.

William was pleased, her granddaughter proved to have the same abilities as her mothers. But was was also shocking was her speed, her strength and agility, she had the reflexes of a cat on an adrenalin rush, but what concerned William was that her brainwaves were identical to her mother. On Viessa's 6th birthday her mother took control, shoving Viessa into the back of her own mind, and she was forced to watch as her mother killed a minor member of the Circle of Thorns... And for 11 and a half years that's where poor Viessa remained, in the back of her mind watching as her mother climbed the ladder of leaders, figureheads and focal points of the Circle of Thorns, and in turn, the members of project Helios. And by climbing the ladder I mean killing each member, then moving onto another of greater importance. Viessa stayed a fragile, ignorant child while her mother denied her of her life.

This rang true, at least until her 16th birthday... it was on that faithful day that her mother was forced to go toe to toe with a equaly extrodinary hero... and Jessika was severed from Viessa's mind. Jessika retreated, but Viessa soon found her and severed her soul. And for the first time in her life, Jessika felt free. In truth, Jessika orchestrated her own death by Viessa's hands. Viessa took her old sword and hunted her mothers soul down, and Jessika guided her, very carefully, to cut off the rage in her soul. Very much like one would cut a peice of paper in two with a pair of Sissors. Viessa was convinced she destroyed her mother, but that was far from the truth, Jessika used her daughter one last time... this time to free herself.

Now free to think clearly and be herself for the first time in her life, Jessika's spirit snuck into the head of Veskit, she wanted to watch her daughter henseforth to repent for the horrible things she's done to her. She wanted to watch her daughter live her life, and for the first time she felt happy. Little did she realize that by choosing Veskit to be her host she was inching towards having her life back once again...

[edit] Trivia

Jessika and Viessa were originaly one character. Back when I used to play on Defiant, Viessa was a stalker who was posessed by her mother, and they would often bicker and squabble over every little thing. They would constantly fight over rights for the body, and generaly made for some pretty funny moments, 'specally for a AT that relied on stealth. I decided this time around to make things a lot darker then they were before story wise... but at the same time, the current story has a much larger room for a happy ending.
