Humanity First was basically an Human Supremacist, anti-meta themed SG. However due to the difficulty of finding players willing to keep within in the theme concept, as well as my own rubbishness at playing the Mastermind AT, the SG never really took off in game. Still I loved the concept so much I still keep it alive as an NPC villain group, and they often pop up in my fiction.

[edit] Mission Statement

as quoted from Partisan...

"The purpose of Humanity First is to stamp out the superpowered menace by any means possible. In order to do this members must seek out like minded individuals free from the taint of genetic alteration, mutation, or other abberations of the human form."

"Humanity First welcomes all true humans with the courage, and determination to fight in this war, be they gadgeteers, wielders of great technology or just the best at what they do."

"As we are fighting a dirty war we will be no doubt be called outlaws, murderers and terrorists. We will be sometimes forced to engage in criminal activity or associate with all manner of filth, both genetic and moral. Innocents will perish, some by our hand, but sacrifices must be made. Also it will be important to raise funds ,and make examples through what many will consider distasteful means. For now we will be the villains but one day the wind will change, and the rest of humanity will see the real danger the supers pose. Then we will be vindicated, then we will be called upon to defend humanity, and then we will be forever be revered as true heroes!"

Partisan
  • Partisan (Elite Boss); Former PPD Officer Daniel Goldstien became embittered and hateful towards 'Supers' after being severely injured after being caught up in a super-powered battle whilst on patrol During the fight Goldstien's patrol car was crushed after a blunder by a rookie mutant hero. Goldstien's partner was thought to have been killed while he ended up losing an arm and was severely disfigured by the botched attack. As he recovered from his injuries he vowed to stop such an accident happening again. He then founded the political lobbyist group 'Humanity First' in an effort to get the government to have both the Citizen Crime Fighting Act repealed, as well imposing severe restrictions of freedom against superpowered beings. However after failing to make any political progress his frustrations blossomed into psychopathic hatred and he moulded Humanity First into a paramilitary terrorist organisation.

[edit] Minions

Blackshirts are the rank and file of Humanity First, their name taken from their distinctive uniform. Blackshirts come from a variety of backgrounds but all united in the purpose of fighting in the war against superpowered vermin.

Most wage their war in their civilian identities where ever possible in order to take on the super menace on many fronts. Police Officers may prove uncooperative or loose vital hero information, Medics make careless mistakes with their super patients, Civil Servants block and harass the heroes through red tape, and so on. Other times Blackshirts must take a direct role be it through acts of sabotage or confrontation with the super freaks, however the Blackshirts are all loyal fanatics, and a force to be reckoned with.

Within the Blackshirt Corps is a number of specialist roles dedicated to specific fighting style or area of expertise ((ie different critter types.))

Driven by paranoia that super powered beings will eventually turn against, and try to supplant baseline humans, the paramilitary organisation known as Humanity First has dedicated itself to the eradication or total control of all beings exhibiting fantastic powers, augmentation, or unusual physical appearance. Many members, and sympathisers of Humanity First hold extreme fundamentalist views, prejudice against visible mutation, jealousy, or just have a grudge due to some previous encounter with Supers. In order to wage their war Humanity First has been organised by it's founder Partisan into an effective paramilitary force, whose soldiers known as Blackshirts ((Minion)), are uniformed in black emblazoned with a stylised insignia based on DaVinci's Vitruvian Man...

Blackshirt Brawlers ((Minion)) are rank and file Humanity First Troopers with a penchant for close combat and are typically armed with police style nightsicks and riot shields."

Blackshirt Fixers ((Minion)) are men and women drawn from technical backgrounds charged with maintaining Humanity First equipment, and performing acts of sabotage.

[edit] Lieutenants

Blackshirt Burners ((Lieutenant)) are lightly armoured troopers who wield flame-throwers in battle.

Blackshirt Gadgeteers ((Lieutenant)) are soldiers whose affinity with technology is advanced enough to fashion amazing personal combat equipment. Gadgeteers are usually regarded as non-commissioned officers by the rest of their Blackshirt brethren.

Blackshirt Sergeants ((Lieutenant)) are proven soldiers trained in the leadership of small units operations.

Blackshirt Maulers ((Lieutenant)) are Humanity First sergeants who specialise in close combat techniques.

Blackshirt Medics ((Lieutenant)) are drawn from the ranks of the regular Blackshirts and have extensive knowledge of battlefield medicine and basic surgery techniques. Included amongst their standard arsenal of battlefield dressings and surgical instruments they carry a selection of chemical sprays developed by Humanity Firt's former master chemist Quick Fix. Medics are roughly equivalent to non-commissioned officers in Humanity First's order of battle.

[edit] Bosses

Blackshirt Kitbashers ((Boss)) are Blackshirt officers who specialise in the modification and repair of salvaged technology and machinery.

Blackshirt Instigators ((Boss)) are men and women who are usually well placed within the authorities or influential members of society often working behind the scenes to further Humanity First’s goals. They also form an important part of Humanity First's Officer Corps having rank equal to a military Captain.

((OOC Blackshirts started out as codenames for various Humanity First character's Mastermind Minions. Those named have either appeared in fiction or Mission Architect arcs.))

Named within the Blackshirt Corps are...

  • Matches
  • Wraps,(Medic)
  • Grunt
  • Riot
  • Arson
  • Patchwork,(Medic),(Deceased)
  • Mayhem,(Deceased)
  • Wreck,(Deceased)

[edit] Activities

  • Terrorist acts against meta-powered individuals, organisations, and sympathisers.
  • Propaganda
  • Criminal activity to raise funds essential to supporting Humanity First's war.
  • Illegal salvage, and modification of high technology.

[edit] Headquarters

"In order to better fight our war against the supers Humanity First needed a home. For the moment Lord Recluse does not see the threat we pose to him or his organisation so he is happy to allow our presence in his lands. To this effect we have taken over a dilapitated church (from the demonic creature Somnium Umbra), and refurbished it as a meeting point for Humanity First rallies. I hope as support grows we can rebuild more and add to "The Chapel" making it a first class base of operations." ...'Partisan'

Humanity First's original Headquarters of the Chapel was recently destroyed by Arachnos as punishment for involving an Arbiter in one of Partisan's anti-meta schemes. Since then the organisation has started to rebuild at a new secret location.

As well as the main Headquarters Humanity First operates a number of safe houses across Paragon and the Isles, and even had a salvaging base located in the Rikti War Zone for a while.

[edit] Resources

  • Considerable monetary wealth gained through both donations, and Criminal activity.
  • Formerly The Chapel, base of operations until it's destruction by Arachnos.
  • Vast amounts of salvaged and custom modified machinery in various states of functionality such as Rikti Drones, Arachnobots, Rikti Heavy assault suits, Sky Raider Skiffs etc.
  • Some experimental technology including a teleportation jammer.
  • Various Information resources within a number of enforcement and government agencies in both Paragon and the Rogue Isles.
  • The Print Works, an old newpaper printing facility in Steel Canyon. Run by Doctrine, the facility serves as Humanity First's Paragon Headquarters, as well as proction and distribution centre for their propaganda newspaper known as The Ugly Truth.

[edit] From One of Partisan's Speeches

As quoted from Partisan...

"Humanity First was originally a political protest group started myself to try and have the "Citizen Crime Fighting Act" repealed. The CCFA legalises superpowered vigilantes yet does not provide sufficient controls over those it empowers within the law. The original group was supported by people caught in collateral damage incidents, many insurers, military, police and other concerned citizens. the problem was that Super Heroes in general received much public admiration and Humanity First was seen as paranoid cranks."

"I was unwilling to see my organisation die an ignoble death and I knew eventually the supers would turn, but by then it would be too late for Humanity to stop them, so I organised Humanity First into a paramilitary organisation. I declared war on the supers as I am a great believer of preemptive strikes and lash out against Paragons super powered populace, aswell as the symbols of their community."

"I once planned to blow up the famous Atlas Statue, favorite meeting place of heroes, but my plan was foiled, myself and other Humanity First members were jailed in the Zig. Whilst in prison, the other Humanity First members, and myself were often attacked, beaten and ridiculed by the other inmates."

"My experiences in the Zig further hardened my resolve to take on the superpowered scum. Inside I met a like mind in Worm, a world class hacker who had stolen experimental tech from the Vanguard. Worm had suffered many losses to the Rikti during the war and thought the Vangaurds response was too little. He had hoped to wage a private war against the aliens still in Paragon. I convinced him that our goals were similar and that if he was to join Humanity First not only would I give him the chance to strike back at alien scum but also all superpowered menaces. Worm agrred ,and when he was paroled he hacked Arachnos computers and arranged for them to add me to the list of inmates Recluse wanted to help escape to the Rogue Ilses."

"After my escape Worm had provided me with masses of information about heroes, villains, and their associated organisations. I discovered the truth about my former partner in the PPD and his transformation into the hero COP, and began to reorganise Humanity First once again."

"With my new found knowledge I baited many heroes and their teams and sought to turn public opinion against them again. However I was sloppy, because Ii had drew so much attention to myself found myself a prisoner once again, recaptured by COP as I tried to enter Paragon through Sirens Call."

"In my absence Humanity First once again fell apart. However the loyal Worm arranged for my escape with the aid of mercenaries Powder Keg and Big Game. After my escape I once again reformed my organisation with Powder Keg teaching new recruits basic military tactics, while Big Game instructed them in the use of firearms."

"My followers were nicknamed Blackshirts for their distinct uniform (though many will no doubt think this is a facist reference). And Humanity first started a secret war. The Blackshirts would use their positions in society to subvert the supers be it a police officer obstructing a heroes efforts, teleport engineers sabotaging systems, media manipulating public opinion, and so on etc."

"Meanwhile the core members of Humanity First would take the supers on direct, and build us a fearsome reputation within their community."

"Our base will remain in the Rogue Islands, safe from Recluse's interference, as for the moment our activities amuse him. However after the fall of Paragon's Heroes he will be next!"
