Originally a backup character created to be a change from the all-blaster lineup of the first incarnation of the Hyperion Watchmen, she has quickly become an active member

Contents

[edit] Affiliations

High Burn is the Hyperion Watchmen's unofficial sniper and scout. She has been known to associate on a social level with a number of other individual heroes and villains in the Pocket D nightclub

[edit] Personality

Normally a very cheerful and bright young girl, High Burn is somewhat of a loner when it comes to Hyperion Watchman operations. She has a more aggressive side to her character that emerges when she is in immediate danger or somehow threatened, and this has been known to conflict with supporting other members of the Watchmen. Her mind is barely able to hold itsself together. In recent days, she has become far less cheerful, and more agressive toward almost anyone the Watchmen work with. She puts it down to the dangerous jobs they get given, and the lack of focus on finding a cure for their conditions

[edit] Motivation

Although revelling outwardly in the aquisition of her new powers, High Burn wants nothing more than to be rid of her "radioactive curse", and return to a semblance of life as she knew it from before the Riviera Incident, albeit on the other side of the law to what she was. To this end, she assists her team leader Bastinado and the rest of the Hyperion Watchmen in their drive to uncover the truth of who caused the Incident, and discover a cure

[edit] Powers

Having only recently been in the X-ray booth of the Riviera Hospital prior to the death of Hyperion Star, she still had a trace of the radiation in her system when the genetically-altering shockwave hit her and caused the shift in her biology. Since then, she has been steadily growing in power, being able to release dense bolts of damaging radiation from her right hand and eyes, as well as being able to weaken her opponents. She can also kick-start an unconcious man's physiology to return them almost instantly to a fully wakened state. Recently, she has found that she has been able to bend light radiation to her will as well.

[edit] Additional Powers

[edit] Travel

High Burn is able to use her radiation projection to propell herself through the skies as a low speed

[edit] Power Pool

Although not a trained stealth operative, High Burn has managed to manipulate natural light around ehrself so as to dissappear from view, or temporarily hide her team-mates. Strenous physical activity has made her more physically fit than she was before

[edit] Abilities

Basic firearms knowledge, and regional gang operations. Has a number of contacts in the Rogue Isles who occasionally send information her way. Basic knowledge of bomb disposal

[edit] Vulnerabilities

High Burn is not physically strong, and so can be quickly overwhelmed in a fight. Her somewhat agressive stance in combat, and her scouting tactics, can lead her to becoming isolated from any potential support. Also, being a street kid, she has had no contact with some of the more bizzare creatures that inhabit Paragon City, and thus is prone to mental breakdowns when faced with them

[edit] Equipment

Several canisters of the Hyperdex solution, which help keep her unpredictable powers in check, and stave off the ever-present threat of "going nova", and detonating like a small atomic bomb.

[edit] Character History

Known Background: Born to Jose DeSousa and Estelle Sanchoz in Paragon City, Bell Medical Centre, 1984. Records of early life confirm she was entered into pre-school and high-school in Paragon City. Parents filed a missing persons report shortly after Marina's 16th birthday. Records end here.

Shortly after, a young girl that matched Marina's description and approxomate age was seen in the company of a number of Skulls gangers both before and after said gangers had comitted various crimes from larceny to murder. Police records class her as a criminal accomplice, and possable link to the high-ranking Skull called Marrow.

in 2006, Marina seemed to dissappear. There are no city records on file with referance to her name, but there are a couple of police reports mentioning seeing a girl who could be her travelling around to various parts of the city. In early 2007, a young heroine appeared in Galaxy City, calling herself High Burn. It is believed that High Burn and Marina DeSousa are one and the same, although no records exist previously of her manifesting "super- abilities"

Early in 2008, a report was filed about the death of one Marina Wilson. It is believed that this is the same person
