[edit] Affiliations
Sgt. Brian Faber was, when alive, a highly popular and wellknown Vietnam marine. But as his family and friends believe he is dead that will not matter anymore. As a ghost Camouflage (or his host 'Rick') wanders around the USA but often ends up in Paragon City helping out the Knights of Pendragon. The sorcerers of this group of heroes often were a lot of help to him too whenever he got 'ethereal' problems.
[edit] Personality
Brian is/was a highly responsable and fun-loving man. He was popular among his platoon and respected by his superiors. He took his job serious and always tried to do what would seem right. Still he had strong surviver instincts and could fight like a wild animal if trapped.
Rick never was an army man. He just finished high school and uses his bond with Camouflage as a good excuse to travel around the country. Although he is a good kid, he is known to be a bit hard-headed and irresponsable at times.
[edit] Motivation
Sgt. Faber always did his best to get his platoon out safely. But too often he saw one of his men die. The avarage age was 19. And especially the younger kids hit him hard. He always let anyone who listen know that he would do whatever he could to make sure those young marines would come out of the war alive.
When he died he did just that. And as long as there are still innocent people in danger across the country, he will keep on doing that. Untill the day will come that his protection will no longer be needed or appreciated... that day he will continue his path and enter 'the white light'.

[edit] Ghost/Ethereal
Camouflage is an ethereal being... a ghost. And when he takes over his human host all his abilities are intact. He can change his density at will.. being either intanglible or invulnerable solid. He can use this to fly. Or walk through solid matter.
When in need of weaponry he can build it from ethereal energies. The weapon would just 'appear'. The bullets are not tech though, but ethereal energy turned solid fired by sheer will.
[edit] Physical
When solid Camouflage will turn his density up to such a degree he in near invulnerable. He is heavier to then and hard move. His strength reaches super human levels. And if he wanted to he would be able to lift cars or crash through walls. Changing his density is possible at a moments notice and he will be seen semi-transparant while using his super strenght.
[edit] Abilities
Sgt. Brian 'Camouflage' Faber is a soldier. And although dead all his abilities remain intact. He can fight real well and handle almost every auto- or semi-automatic weapon made. He can driver or pilot almost every vehicle he can get his hands on and is a very good tracker and hunter. He has learned to make jungle-traps and has an uncanny survivors'instinct.
[edit] Vulnerabilities
He is, however, still dead. His ghost seemed to be needing a physical focal point on the corporal world. And that seems to be his dog tag. It's the dog tag that keeps him on this world. Aside from that he operates best if melted with a living being. usually he will use the wearer of the dog tag for that. But he can do without if the need arose.
[edit] Equipment
Although Camouflage seems to be able to create his own weaponry, he is also known to just pick up real ones from all over the place.
[edit] Character History
October 31, 1940... Brian Faber was born on All Hallows' Eve. Maybe the fates knew more about his future at that moment? He was a healthy boy... large for his age and strong as an ox. During his childhood he already took it upon himself to help out the smaller boys who where plagued by bullies all the time. Brian couldn't stant bullying, and he was big enough to do something about it.
When he was 17 Brian was witness of a street brawl where some guys where beating up a native american boy real bad. He didn't hesitate for a second and barged right in, one of the two drew a knife and stabbed him in his arm. But he knocked the guys light out and together they walked away, the boy needing a lot of support. Brian suggested the hospital but the boy wouldn't hear from it. He said to bring him to his grandfather asap. Both where bleeding heavy but Brian did what was asked of him.
The boy's grandfather looked downright ancient. A native american that looked old enough to have known Geronimo himself. It seemed that he was a medicine man or shaman for his people. He dressed the wounds and during a strange ritual he blessed Brian. Brian remembered some words like... '...if he ever needs or wants... ... give him the way... ...to help... ...from beyond...'. But like all young man his age he quickly forgot.
The war in Vietnam started and the US goverment started looking for young men to enlist. Brian was 25 years old, full of spirit and hope. He quickly rose towards the top of his class and by the time he set foot in Vietnam he already was a Corporal. When his platoon leader was shot down by a sniper he became Sgt. Faber. By then his uncanny ability to blend into his surroundings and strike Charlie from an ambush already gave him the nickname 'Camouflage'. But as so many before him his number came up too. His platoon was ambushed and almost all of them got shot up bad. Brian saw his mates, some of them as young as 18, shot down like pigs. Desperate trying to keep them alive he fought like a wild man. Still he was overpowered and heaviliy wounded he fled and struck ground at his HQ.
Soldiers log Private First Class John Elzen, November 02, 1965 - We are going on a search patrol to find possible survivors of a platoon that dissapeared a a few days ago. These jungle wars are terrible. I wish I was home, I have a bad feeling about this.
Soldiers log Private First Class John Elzen, November 03, 1965 - Last night was a horror. My weapon jammed and I got seperated from my search patrol. The enemy was closing in and I was already counting my fate. Then suddenly a big marine appeared at my shoulder. The man was huge with friendly eyes. When I asked him his name he simply said thet the boys called him Camouflage. Before I could ask anything more bullets flew around us... Charlie had noticed us!
Now this is where it begins to sound strange... we fought all night side by side. The bullets seemed to go right through him like he wasn't there. When we tried to ran the ambush came on top of us. I was sure I would have been shot if, and this is downright creepy, Camouflage hadn't swatted the bullet out of the sky like a fly. With his bare hands! When I turned he had pulled a big palm tree right up out of the ground and started to swat those Charlies with it. Then he led be out of danger.. and left into the jungle.
At HQ I told the boys what happened to me, and about Camouflage. The soldier next to me turned white as a sheet and a medic took me to the MASH tent. He said: "You may be tellin' true boy, but this here is Camouflage. And he's been right here since he passed away last night. Before he went he said "Semper fi" and that his only wish was to save a young marine caught in a barrage." The man gave me his dog tag... I haven't taken it off since then, and I don't think I ever will.
Soldiers log Private First Class John Elzen, April 12, 1967 - For me the war is over.. I'm allowed to go home. I still wear the dog tag of Camouflage. It's strange.. the passed years where like having him as a guardian angel. There where times I had strange black-outs and didn't knew what happened to me for hours. I haven't told the medics yet in case they are sending me away for further excamination. I just want to go home...
John never really knew what was happening to him when he blacked out. But back home it sometimes happened too. Right after he would read upon a man or woman saved and the attackers heavily beated. And he noticed he was almost always in the neighborhood when that happened. The dog tag he still wore must have given him phenominal luck to have not been in the crossfire.
As such he gave it to his son, Rick. The young boy was a bit headstrong and could use some extra luck. Rick loved the gift and never took it off. In time he would learn that the dog tag was the physical focal point of the spirit of Sgt. Brian 'Camouflage' Faber, and that he would take over Rick's body in times of need or danger to innocents. But that's another story...
