Born May 23rd 1983 to chiropractor Stuart Summer and dietitian Susan Kalvin in San Diego, California. His parents where both hippies who let James have a very unrestricted childhood. He excelled in physical activities and ended up taking part in various athletic activities even if he disliked their competitive nature. His mutation was well received by his family who supported him and helped him come to terms with how other people might view him now. After he finished high school he left San Diego and with the blessing of his folks left on a journey of discovery, he travelled a couple of months in the US then continued backpacking around Europe.

On May 23rd 2002 he was in Amsterdam to celebrate his birthday with some other backpackers, the Rikti ruined that plan, the War started and James used his powers to try and help protect and save lives, with the help of fellow American traveller Dynamite Mike, a gadgeteer on holidays, they fought side by side for the duration of the war. After that James wanted to return to his home to see the effects of the war had had, with Mike they travelled back and after he had found out his parents and friends where safe they travelled to Boston where his family was to do the same there. The two then proceeded to backpack across the country, rarely staying in one place for long but usually helping out wherever they where using their powers.

In 2006 largely because Mike needed a set base of operations to work, the two moved to Paragon City, they've been living there ever since. James has taken a more active stance towards superheroing and has worked with the PPD closely since his arrival, Mike seems more interested in furthering his research, superheroing being an interesting diversion to him.

Bright, witty and sociable, is the first thing that is obvious, high communicative skills that seem to underline a need to be socially liked. Contrary to appearances he lacks a moral compass, he is mostly guided by a generic affectionate, courteous, kind and generous nature, as such he seems to have adaptive morals. Is contradictory in nature, that while he embraces ideals that are anti authoritarian, like punk ideology, seems to work within the system helping authorities like the PPD. Has a strong self love complex that he is very adept at hiding even from himself, in many ways he constantly struggles with his hedonistic, self gratifying tendencies.

James has huge powerful wings that allow him to fly at an easy speed of 90 Km per hour, he can increase that by exerting himself to double that for short bursts and can do controlled air dives with a clocked 300 km per hour. His vision is very keen, his eyes having lots of sensors, both cones for daylight vision and rods allowing for keen night vision, allowing him to see about eight times better and farther then a regular human, also his eyes are protected by a thin membrane that seems to block radiation. He has an accelerated healing factor that allows him to regenerate from any non fatal wound and a body that is naturally tough, while bullets will not bounce off him they will usually embed themselves in his skin and be discarded as his body will fix itself in a matter of seconds. While burns and other severe external damage has happened since his acquiring his powers, he has never experienced broken bones.

Finally his strength has been greatly enhanced by his mutation, he can lift and throw roughly up to ten tones, and if pressed lift over his head for a short while double that. Usually in combat he pulls his punches in order to keep damage to non fatal levels.

Plays guitar semi professionally and has drifted into various bands over the years, currently mostly plays punk. Used to be a football player and a track athlete until his mutation manifested in his mid teens, since then he's channelled his need for exercise into surfing. A very bad driver since he hasn't driven since he got his license.

Can mix drinks with flash and flair, and has encyclopaedic knowledge of most alcoholic beverages on the planet, is a certified bartender in several states including Paragon City. Academically his knowledge is mostly limited high school stuff not having continued his studies since graduating. Has spent a year being trained by the PPD in police action procedures.
