Coile aka Andre Kraft is a mutant who leads his own team, Silent Tempest. He was born in North Dakota in 1986 and arrived to Paragon City in late April 2006 With his sister Coila, mother ND-3 and friend Kitia. They met Subaiku and formed a supergroup with her. Coile lived with Sword of Truth for a few months before suddenly marrying Nightsparrow and they conceived a child. During a hazardous excurion to a foreign dimension Coile lost his mutant abilities and uses now a suit to simulate his former abilities. After Nightsparrow died Coile eventually fell for Love Angel with whom he now is living and raising the child that he had with Sparrow.

Coile is a co-founder and leader of Silent Tempest. He does his best to lead the team and help its members in whatever way available. Despite having thought of walking away a few times he still retains his post. It also seems that his team prefers him to be the leader despite his insecurities and sometimes overwhelming silliness.

He feels a strong allegiance to his granddaughter Darksparrow and to a degree to her other allies (Caliburn 14 Unit A), which so far includes only Chaos Augury. Family being perhaps the most important thing for him the chronologically displaced granddaughter has taken the spot of a daughter in his heart and despite the age difference of only about five years

Andre has also pledged himself to a mutual co-operation with Aria (Keening Banshee) and her sanctuary domain, Freehold. He has come to appreciate Aria's friendship and her advice, as well as to rely on her aid when needed.

Through his team he is allied with the private detective agency Ghost Tiger Investigations headed by Pyranha. This relationship started in the early stages of Tempest when they needed allies and continues to this day even though mostly behind the scenes. Despite some rough spots Coile still regards Pyranha as a friend.

From January to June in 2007 Coile used to be a devoted member of a special Rikti eradication team Octavo but eventually came to oppose their goals of indiscriminate Rikti slaughter and genocide. Only two other members of that Octavo survive to this day, Pelire and Gloom.

Even if Coile at this time opposes the Hand of Andros and tries to bring its rogue elements to justice a possible future history suggests that he could join them later, perhaps as a necessity. Currently he and Silent Tempest work with the benevolent members of Hand of Andros to bring the rogues down. Whether or not Tempest turns their quest for justice against their current allies once the biggest common threat has been neutralized remains to be seen.

His work keeps Coile affiliated with Hero Corps.

The most important affiliation to Coile is his family, however it may be defined at any given time.

Andre grew up in a household with his father Zirgei Kraft, sister Andrea and a robotic mother that the children called Nadia due to her designation, ND. When he was about fifteen his childhood friend Kitia lost the last of her remaining family and living near the farm that was a home to the Kraft family she became a de facto addition.

There is a pattern in Andre's life where he takes the most important woman in his life to be his family as well. This happened with Nadia Forester (now known as Nadia Troy), later with his wife Melanie Kraft (maiden name Aveline) and now Diana Bright, his current girlfriend and wife-to-be.

Due to having lived with Diana in her parents' house for two months he came to regard her mother (Jane Bright) and father (Nigel Bright) as family as well. There was a separation period of a few weeks but since Andre and Diana now are living together with a plan of staying together until death do them part Jane and Nigel are now part of Andre's extended family again.

In a now different timeline Andre and Melanie had a child who in turn had a daughter that was named Angelique Kraft, probably because in that timeline Diana whose hero name was Love Angel was a godmother to Andre's child. That world was ravaged by wars and humanity had become almost extinct. To change the future Angelique adopted the name Darksparrow in honor of her grandmother and went back in time to January 2007. Andre soon had a contact with her and eventually deduced who and what she was. Even if her future is now impossible Angelique still remains in here and now and And re has come to think of her as a kind of a daughter.

Zirgei is now presumed to have been killed months ago. Andrea died in August 2006 and while a copy of her has recently surfaced Andre does not take her to be his sister. ND-5 was last seen many weeks ago. In December 2006 Kitia died and joined her goddess Gaia. It is doubtful that Andre would accept Kitia as any kind of family member even if Gaia might release her back into the world at some point.

The latest addition to the family is Andreas Kraft who was born on 5th September 2007. He is the son of Andre and Melanie who survived the death of his mother. His existence continue inside an artificial womb-like environment until the time of his birth. Currently he is staying in maternity ward at Atlas Park Chiron medical center but will get to go home to Andre and Diana in a few days.

Andre's current family is: Andreas (son), Angelique (daughter in spirit), Diana (girlfriend / wife-to-be), ND-5 (mother), Jane and Nigel (in-laws). Occasionally Andre calls Andrea his sister. Whether this is due to just a lapse in speech or a sign of subconscious thinking is everyone's guess.

At the age of 21 Coile has had a range of experience about the womankind. The best and the worst, one might say.

His first girlfriend was the next door girl Kitia, or considering their living environment, the next farm girl. They became involved in the summer of 2001 while Andre was a month away from being 15 and Kitia had still a few months to go to be 14. That relationship lasted for two years until Kitia ended it in summer 2003. Afterwards she spent a week living in the forest. When Kitia and Andre's sister Andrea became a couple a year later Andre felt pretty resentful about it and got over it only after the trio came to Paragon City to find out what heroism was all about.

While Andre never went with Kitia past kissing the next important girl in his life took his virginity. Quite soon after Andre turned 19 he met Emmily in a club in September 2005 and the first encounter ended in bed. While Emmily was far from the perfect girlfriend Andre hung on that relationship up until the late April next year when he, Andrea, Kitia and ND left to Paragon City. The affair consisted mostly of weekend encounters and frequent sex of which not all was pleasant. Emmily was a disturbed girl without a safety net and she took out her bad feeling on Andre who had no skills to cope with the abuse he was getting. Effectively Emmily kept Andre in line by beating him up if he did not obey, alternating with tenderness (as described in A for Android: The Big L). One day Andre got enough and did not return again and shortly after moved away from Andros City.

He next met Emmily in very early January 2007. He tried to persuade her to accept therapy and professional help while all she was interested was getting Andre back. When it became obvious that Andre would not come back to her she attempted to shoot him and managed to wound him severely. Melanie who was Andre's current romantic interest had been listening the exchange behind the apartment door. She broke the door down and with one kick brought Emmily down by breaking her neck.

[edit] Sword of Truth

In the beginning of May 2006 within the week of coming to Paragon City Coile had met Sword of Truth (Nadia Forester) and fallen in love with her. While Kitia had been a teenage crush and Emmily more or less a bad habit, Nadia was Andre's first real love. After he was psionically attacked Nadia took him to live with her until he was again well enough to be on his own. After the recovery Andre persuaded Nadia to let him stay because he felt he could make better decisions with her around. Nadia who was already in love as well, although she declined to share this fact, thought the reasoning sufficient. She also followed Andre halfway across the world to Khan Tengri on his quest for the Blue flower. That would become a turning point in their relationship.

As depicted in A for Android: Touch the Sky during the trip Nadia was seemingly killed. What took place was that she was cloned and when Andre went to rescue her (see A for Android: Magenta Brand of Darkness) he rescued the clone. The real Nadia was found only almost a year later. Meanwhile Andre and the clone Nadia who had no reason to doubt her identity became lovers. It was only a few months later when the suspicions of Nadia's nature began to surface. A lot of evidence started to point that Nadia was a clone and the real one was held captive which led the clone to state that if the real Nadia was found, she would step aside as a clone, and leave Andre in the process. This state of uncertainty lasted for weeks and ate Andre from the inside. He felt insecure and wanted a stable future.

In time the clone Nadia reconsidered her stance and decided that while the real Nadia would get back her apartment and possessions, Andre would get to keep the woman he had lived together with for months by then. However those weeks of uncertainty if the real Nadia would be found had left Andre desperate with a reassurance for the future. When Nadia left to do some soul searching on her own with a promise to return to her lover Andre proposed to her and wanted a promise of a marriage. Nadia did not accept. This made Andre feel as if he had been left alone and effectively walked away from Nadia, still in search for a promise of a future with no fear. He hated to be afraid and that was what he had been ever since Nadia's possible clone nature became known.

[edit] Nightsparrow

While working with Dustine in early October 2006 Andre had a chance encounter with two women from The Militia, Lady Cobra and Nightsparrow (Melanie Aveline). He became friends with both and even more so with Melanie. They had differences of opinion and argued occasionally but Andre was resolute in helping the stubborn girl out whether she liked it or not. His meddling led Nightsparrow to realize that her enemy Grim Shade would go and target her newfound allies and decided to end the threat by the only way she could imagine. A suicide run which would take out Grim Shade. She set up explosives on Triton Tower in Siren's Call and detonated them while fighting her opponent on the roof. Andre was devastated to learn of her death. Nadia with whom he was romantically involved with suspected that he might have been in love with Nightsparrow.

A month later an amnesiac Melanie was found having lost her Nightsparrow years. Coile was going to let the woman live her new life but Nadia convinced him that also this person without any memories of Coile deserved a chance to earn his friendship. In retrospect this was a two-edged advice. In due time Melanie recovered her memories and began her relentless campaign of teasing Coile with mock sexual advances that perhaps hid something real behind them. By the time that Nadia left to find her identity and Andre felt it was the end of that relationship he and Melanie had grown quite close. Melanie made it clear that she would not mind being with Andre, be it for one night or for life, although Andre would get to choose only one option. Instead of either Andre chose to go away and think things through. On one hand he could be with Melanie, on the other he could maybe try again with Nadia.

One day before New Year Melanie phoned to Andre saying that she wanted to marry him and have children with him. She promised him a life with security and stability, a real family which Andre had come to realize he had never had. Andre said yes, and returned to Paragon City. On New Year's eve they became a couple. A week later Andre had moved in with Melanie (see: A for Android: It's My Life), proposed to her and gotten her pregnant (see A for Android: Schrödinger's Grandchild). Things were moving fast.

The marriage happened on 21st January 2007. It ended with Melanie being arrested and locked away. Sometime after Coile was lost in a hostile dimension for two weeks, followed by being held by EVIL and subsequently being quarantined because of the Tempest Virus. The reunion with Melanie was brief as work kept Andre busy and during this time Hand of Andros began brainwashing him. The end result was Melanie walking away from Andre, feeling betrayed and alone. Before there could be a reconciliation Melanie was first seemingly killed when their apartment was blown up. While this was a hoax she died for real before Andre could talk to her. All this drove Andre towards a breakdown that was prevented only by the efforts of his team mate Love Angel.

[edit] Love Angel

The friendship between Coile and Love Angel started for real during Christmas in 2006. During that time they talked a lot about complicated things with Andre telling about Emmily and Diana having the burden of telling to Andre about his past. This was emotionally very taxing and the two shared the bed during the nights for closeness and comfort.

The next period of togetherness occurred in the beginning of April 2007 when Andre's wife Melanie was believe to have died in an explosion that destroyed their home. Around that time Andre had been spending some nights sleeping over at Nadia's place due to various circumstances that included a partially successful brainwash attempt on him. When he was left homeless Nadia suggested that Diana could take him to her place for the time.

Prior to this something extraordinary had taken place. While the intervention of teammates and friends had saved Coile from being brainwashed by Hand of Andros his trust to even his closest friends had been severely undermined. To fix this Subaiku took Nadia, Melanie and Diana, one by one, into a dream walk with Andre. The dream walk with Diana proved to be crucial. Upon their consciousnesses making a contact Diana's inherent quality, her true nature, overwhelmed Andre's mind which he later described as a bright star washing away all of his doubts and bad feelings. With that encounter they both saw each other as they were deep inside which in turn would serve as a basis for their innate mutual trust.

While living together they again began sleeping in the same bed even beyond the point where either actually needed the closeness to heal. It had become a habit. Throughout those weeks many people either thought that Andre and Diana had a relationship, or would have one in the near future. While both were resolute that nothing of the sort was going on there became a point where they had to face the possibility that they might be feeling more than they admitted to. To find out what he felt Andre decided that he needed some more space and moved away temporarily. There was a clash with Diana's parents and the exile became more permanent in nature. In a short time Andre came to realize that he indeed was in love with Diana. Unfortunately for him Diana had also done some inner searching and found out that she did not feel romantic love to any of her suitors.

The relationship remained as "just friends" until Diana went to France for a vacation. When she returned she had began to have doubts and told Andre that while she did not expect him to wait for her, given time she might find out that she did belong with him. The state of utter uncertainty was not an issue to Andre who had assumed a stance where he felt what he felt and would not seek to force himself to think differently. Diana's return also brought on the next period of living together due to two factors. First was Diana's emotional vulnerability and nightmares stemming from the breakdown that she suffered after the rescue of Amber Banshee. The second was Diana's mom having left the country for the time to stay safe from the threat from Hand of Andros. That meant that Diana was alone in a situation where she did not want to be alone and Andre was there to keep her company during the nights. In separate beds at first but since the Rikti invasion fell on Earth they again shared the bed until Diana's parents both returned to be with their daughter during the wartime.

On the day the invasion was announced to be over Diana and Andre went to the Blue flower to talk and celebrate the victory. The situation turned into the first kiss between them and that sealed the fate of their relationship. It had been understood by both that if anything ever was to happen between them it would mean a lifelong commitment to a mutual union. They thus became a boyfriend and a girlfriend with an intent of spending the rest of their lives together.

On August 22nd, a sunny Wednesday in 2007, Andre and Diana moved in together.
