Hand of Andros: Andrew is a child of Zergei Kraft and ND.

Silent Tempest: Andrew is a brother (of sorts) to Andre Kraft, aka Coile, the leader of the Silent Tempest. Andrew is not a member of the Silent Tempest, but his father, Zergei, has urged him to seek to join them that he may learn to be a strong force for good.

Andre and Andrea Kraft are his siblings to whom he feels strongly loyal and protective. He has an especially close bond with Andrea, having been created with her experiences embedded in him.

Angelique Kraft was initially also accepted as a blood relation, despite any potential issues with alternate time-lines. However, without Coile around she has grown increasingly paranoid, and issued death-threats against Coil, Zergei and Andrea. Coil has been forced to accept her declaration of war, and currently has to assume that any sighting of her represents the commencement of an attack.

[edit] Personality

Andrew has some issues. He has strong, supportive childhood experiences but is also intellectually aware that they are not his own. They are his sister Andrea's memories that he was constructed with. Though his parents are loving and supportive each in their way, he is still very much the adopted son, but one they did not really ask to adopt.

Andrew was created primarily with DNA from Andre Kraft, Andre being the only natural child of Zergei and Nadia Kraft. The DNA has been extensively modified, so Andrew is very far from being a duplicate. However, he looks so much alike to Andre that he still gets treated by others initially as a mere clone, or shadow of his more famous older brother. He feels no jealousy of his brother over this, but thinks people judging him in this way are idiots.

Andrew has a very caring nature, and a strong respect for ideals and for life. He has both the embedded feelings from his deceased sister Coila and his upbringing from his parents pushing him to do good, to make the world a better place, and to not stand by and watch injustice or evil done.

Andrew seems humble about his own life's value at times. This may be due to his awareness that he is a construct, and a 'spare' construct at that. He has become the kind to throw himself in the path of danger to protect others. When his brother Andre was lying in a coma, slowly dying from a detriorating brain condition, Andrew would have gladly swapped places with his brother, and hapily volunteered his own body tissues if it could help his brother.

[edit] Motivation

Coil seeks to make the world a better place. Zergei Kraft always guided the education and development of all his children to use their potential well and be meaningful forces for good. Andrew was raised to be 'heroic', to the best of his abilities.

Andrew Kraft is seen by even his own family as something of an afterthought. Created late, to replace the long-dead original Andrea, his sister (Andrea Mk 2) was made, and he was created too. None can say why. To Andrew, this makes him just like most people in the world - not knowing why he exists, and left to determine his own answer to that eternal question.

Andrew feels a need to justify his existance somewhat. To make something of himself. That he is neither a direct copy nor replacement for any other family member helps him in this respect, to his own mind at least. He isn't expected to be anyone but himself. Now he must determine who that self is, or should be.

All of the 'Kraft Children' share a gift for creating and channelling massive amounts of energy. The eldest, Andre, showed the talent weild this energy as both a ranged and melee weapon with great effect. His younger sister, Andrea, showed an ability to create force-fields as well as shoot bolts of pure force with her energies.

Andrew differes from his siblings. On the positive side, he has never needed to have the plates fitted to his skull that his siblings had as their powers first developed. On the less positive side, his energies seem far more self-contained, focussed almost entirely in his own body. No shooting bolts of powerful concussive force for him.

It was assumed at first, from his lack of range and more stable power that he was of a lesser order, with greatly reduced energies. This opinion was instantly rethought once training reached the point of rolling with attacks. Coil has the ability to channel huge amounts of energy defensively, absorbing and deflecting the force of blows and energies attacking him.

[edit] Primary Powers

Coil channels energy to create buffer fields around himself. These energy fields give off a certain amount of light and heat, even seeming almost fiery in nature.

He has learned to use this as an effective psychological weapon, as many creatures have a natural fear of fire. His armour enables him to magnify the fiery appearance in a largely harmless dsplay of light effects so that he appears to blaze far more than the actual heat and light his energy fields create.

In addition to the protection of these buffer fields, Coil can also force the energies through his body to create a healing and refreshing effect. It is believed he channels this energy through his systems natural regenerative systems, turbo-charging his natural healing and recuperation, but further study has not been made at this time.

Coil has been seen to make astonishing leaps. He apparently chanels energy through his legs and feet to make super-human leaps just as he can channel energy through his fists to empower super-human blows.

Zergei has provided Coil with an advanced suit of armour that offers excellent maneuverability for melee fighting and protects against penetration by blades that would still be sharp even with the force of the blow removed.

Coil wears a pair of wraparound tinted glasses that most assume is purely some cocky image. In fact these glasses are linked to his armour, featuring a HUD that allows him to better control the pyrotechnic effects that the suit generates from his energy fields.

[edit] Creation

Coil was created at the same time as Andrea II, both apparently to replace te long dead original Andrea. Andrea was activated some weeks before Andrew, as Zergei Kraft's attempt to send aid to Coile and the Silent Tempest against the rogue elements of the Hand of Andros.

When the Hand of Andros rogue leader attempted and almost succeeded in destroying Zergei along with the farm, Zirgei protected ND and the inactive Coil in the bunker and let everyone think them all destroyed to prevent an even more devastating attack they might not survive.

Andrew was activated on the first day of June, 2007. He had been created with the memories of the original Andrea (Coila) but they were not quite as memories he could place and recall, but more like impressions and feelings about things. A good illustration of this is Andrew's deep affection and attachment to his brother Andre. He feels the kinship and familiarity and love for Andre that comes from Andrea having grown up with him. However he cannot recall any events of that lifelong bond he feels.

Andrew is fully aware of his own nature, as much as anyone but his creators are. He knows that many of his feelings and impressions of things are not his own, and could easily reject them. Instead he seems to have embraced his feelings of love and attachment to his kin. Perhaps he simply needs to have family and feel he belongs.

Zergei Kraft and ND have accepted Andrew as their child, and that adoption thus makes any question of the relationship to Andre and Andrea completely moot. He is their brother, by adoption if not by genetics.

Andrew was quite isolated after his activation - his birthday - due to the need for Zirgei to maintain the illusion that they had been killed, thus preventing Hand of Andros making an even more devastating attempt. However he had Andrea's feelings about the outside world already, and was extensively home-schooled by ND in this time.

[edit] Coming to Paragon City

Some 5 months after Andrew's activation, Andre came home in a bad way. Andre had some damage to his brain, the result of a much earlier injury, that had been worsening steadily. Now that Michel of the Hand of Andros was out of action, it was safe for Zergei to let people know they had survived the devastation of the farm.

Zergei took Andrew with him to Paragon City to cntact Andrea and the members of the Silent Tempest. He had hopes that the Silent Tempest would provide Andrew with the same strong guidance and support they had given to others in the past. Zergei had impressed upon Andrew how important it could be to have the right mentorship if he were to use his special abilities wisely and well.

The meeting with Andrea went well enough once she was past the shock and anger that Zergei had let them all believe he were dead. Andrew feels especially close to Andrea of course due to having the impressions and feelings of the original's memories.

Things rapidly took a turn for the worst however when Andrea called Nadia Troy, the Sword of Truth to speak with Zergei on behalf of the Tempest. Despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that Sword of Truth is herself a clone, and unlike Andrew was actually created for nefarious purposes, Nadia Troy took a very bigotted approach to Andrew. It didn't help that her first actions were to verbally attack Zergei openly and aggressively in front of Andrew.

Whatever Sword's point of view, Andrew's is that Zergei has been a good father, and has always tried to do his best for all his children as he sees it - even risking sending the Tempest and Andre the assistance of Andrea II when unable to help them in any other way. In fact, Zergei has done more to protect and guide his children than even they can remember.

Even were that not so, attacking the father of a meta-powered individual that Hero Corps had classified as a 'Tanker' can really only have the effect of making him step in. In deference to the respect his father had told him to have about the Tempest, he was very restrained, and neither used physical presence nor taunts to deflect her attack on his father.

However, she rose easily to his presence, apparently thinking the new boy should be quiet. It did not end well, leaving each with a very poor first impression of the other. Andrew was particularly disgusted by Nadia Troy not being familiar with her own group's charter. She clearly told Andrew she was not a hero and made no cliam to be one. Yet the Tempest's charter, which Andrew has studied from files kept by Zergei, states: Even if it sounds presumptuous we are not ordinary. We are heroes and we have to act like it.

However, that encounter with a member of the Silent Tempest went rather better than the next...

[edit] Death Threats and Prejudice

Zergei and Andrea Kraft both explained to Andrew a little of Nadia Troy's personal history to explain her reaction to Coil. Sword of Truth was herself a clone, of the original Sword of Truth, Nadia Forrester, (now known as Light of Truth). In addition, she had intimate feelings for Andre.

Andrew may only have been activated 5 months previously, but even he knows that every bigot has some reason for their prejudice. There had been something in the way she had reacted to Andrew, called him a clone, that said she was prejudiced by a history or past experience that had nothing to do with Andrew. She'd not been prepared to treat him as a stanger she had no knowledge of one way or another. She had instantly treated him as suspicious, and possibly dangerous.

Coil merely shrugged it off and went back to learning to use his powers well and wisely under the guidance of his Hero Corps mentors and contacts. It was later that he again got a call from his father to be present for a meeting with Angelique Kraft, known as Darksparrow whom was the grandaughter of an alternate reality future Andre. Since Coile had accepted Angelique as being kin, the rest of the family did too.

Darksparrow, who already came from a dark future where paranoia was a necessary survival instinct, was rather far from reasonable. Indeed, she threatened to kill all those present, Zergei, Andrew and Andrea unless they surrendered Andreas, Coile's infant child, to her at once.

This was a demand none of those present could meet. Not only could none of them see this emotionless, paranoid outcast as being a fit carer for the child, it was simpler than that. Coile could have paced Andreas in Darksparrow's care and evidently chose, as the parent, not to do so. Indeed, he'd gone to the trouble of bringing Andreas to his parents to care for. That was the choice of the parent, and none of them would assume the right to go against it.

Darksparrow declared war on those present and any who would stand with them, clearly stating a threat to kill them in thier sleep. Zergei immediately ordered his two children to use Biodome One, an extremely secure living space, for their own protection.

Coil had never expected the Sient Tempest to harbour such people as these. First a field commander with bigotry who flat-out denied being a hero (an obvious lie given the group's own charter) and then a murderous criminal, issuing threats of murder and kidnapping, in an attempt to extort what she wanted from young heroes of the city. Andrew wondered if Coile truly knew what he'd been harbouring in his group.

[edit] Earning His Cape

Turning his back on the villains who had taken over the Silent Tempest in his brother's absence, Coil poured all his attention into his work with Hero Corps. His various mentors and contacts there had been impressed with Andrew.

He'd already started to gain some public notice and attention for his selfless heroics in rescuing kidnap victims, preventing half a dozen major bank robberies, and single-handedly uncovering a major Arachnos operation in Paragon City, even arresting two very high-ranking Arachnos officials.

It was decided that Andrew should be considered for the right to wear a cape, and with humilty, Coil set about the tasks as all others asked of him, with dedication and dilligence. Coil now proudly wears a hero cape, honouring the tradition of lost and bygone heroes, and upholding their ideals.

[edit] Training With The Militia

Andrew has been training hard in unarmed combat techniques, as he believes it is not enough to depend only on meta-abilities. Coil believes that training his physical body and human reactions will enable him to make far better use of his powers, and so be stronger and more capable hero.

It was during some of his training regimen that he encountered a group of very established heroes practicing their skills and tactics at one of the public arenas. Andrew was thrilled to be able to watch veterans like the Amber Banshee, Crimson Archer, and Wavekite from the Militia training.
