[edit] Connections

The Chief fairly well known with most Hero Organisations such as Longbow and the Phalanx, and is on good terms with the New Heroes Union.

The Chief has a neutral (verging on the unfriendly) relationship with the Corporation, although he has sworn to personally put Techbot ALPHA behind bars for eternity. Although, secretly, the Chief cant help but find the litte 'virus', as he calls him, somewhat amusing and even useful from time to time. In reality, the Chief would rather try to turn ALPHA's amazing intellect to the betterment of mankind, rather than its enslavement.

[edit] Personality

Chief Centurion Z1 instantly comes across as a kind and compasionate person. He is always willing to lend aid to those who need it; he sees it as his duty. However, The Chief's kind personality melts away once he gets into combat. He will gladly kill any who he sees as evil, and will use whatever it takes to emerge triumphant. He will wade through a sea of foes to further the cause of Righteousness.

[edit] Motivation

The Chief feels he owes the people of Earth. As a Soldier, he feels bound to protect the innocent and those who cannot fend for themseleves.

[edit] Powers

[edit] Primary Powers

The main weapon the Chief posseses is his incredible toughness. He has been known to wade right into the middle of a melee, shrugging off blows that would have toppled even the toughest of man-made robots and armour. It is believed that his resilience is down to both his tough metal hide and the energy that seems to permanently shimmer beneath it.

[edit] Secondary Powers

The Chief's main method of attack involves his fists. The energy field that surrounds them in combat seems to be self-fueled, and has not been known to run out. The Chief combines these powerful gauntlets with his own considerable strength to pound enemies into the dust. He can also use the energy from his fists to short-circuit machinery.

[edit] Additional Powers

[edit] Travel

The Chief can fly, using either jets in his Captain form, or the powerful wings he posseses in Avatar form.

[edit] Abilities

Given he is a scholar at the Tor'vesa Military Academy, the Chief is a brilliant tactician, and is skilled in multiple forms of combat. He personally dislikes ranged weapons, preffering to get up close and personal with an opponent, but he knows how useful they can be, and will not hesistate to use any, should the need and opportunity arise. The Chief is also a very capable scientist. His passion, other than fighting evil, is studying the nature of Earth and its inhabitants. He is also a brilliant technician.

[edit] Vulnerabilities

Even someone as tough as the Chief can be overwhelmed. His one fault, if it could be called that, is his reluctance to leave a fight while his allies need help. If a rearguard action is required, it is more than likely that he will cover the retreat, no matter how badly damaged he is. He can also struggle somewhat against electrical defences and psionic assaults, given the energy based nature of his powers.

[edit] Equipment

Servo-tools concealed in his arm units, in-built commlink, multi-spectral visor, Kaarin Guardian axe (own construction)

[edit] Character History

Chief Centurion Z1 arrived on Earth just after the end of the First Rikti War. A portal opened over Atlas park, and the downblast of energy created a large crater, which would later become one of the parks lakes. As Longbow and Science units moved in, over a thousand Rikti bodies were found, along with something else...

The Chief's body was taken to Chiron Centre, but no one could figure out how to reactivate the locked-down robot. Finally, a chance experiment with a USB connection linked the Chief up to a computer, where he proceeded to draw power straight out of the City Grid. He also took the time to copy and download the entire internet. Once his systems had repaired themselves, the lock-down was lifted and he returned to sentience.

The lockdown had left a number of his systems dormant, lacking as he did the full ammount of power usually drawn from his core. Nevertheless, the Chief was endebted to the Scientists who rescued him, and he swore to protect this new planet and its people, while trying to restore his own powers and find out why he had arrived at Earth.

Before coming to Earth, Chief Centurion Z1 was the Captain of the Royal Guard on his home planet of Korhaal. He was still in command when the Rikti invaded. The combat was as fierce as that recorded on Earth, if not more so. Despite heavy casualties, the Kaarin slowly began to push the Rikti back, until only one last pocket was left in a stronghold near the orignal portal. The Chief, defying the Council and his King, led an assault directly into the heart of the fortification, and used the energy from his own power core to suck the Rikti and himself into the Void. He should have died, as the Rikti did, but somehow he survived.

The Chief began his fight against the villains of Paragon and the Rogue Isles instantly, busting the likes of the Hellion and Skulls in large numbers. The Trolls and Outcasts of the Hollows soon felt his wrath, but not as much as the minions of Vahzilok and the Clockwork King. The Chief took an instant dislike to the little clock-bots and the walking dead, and still hates both groups to this day.

The Chief's work throughout Paragon grew steadily as the months went by, and his powers increased further as his core began to power itself up once more. It wasnt long before nearly every enemy the City faced had had to deal with the sight of eight foot of angry Tolinium Steel bearing down on them, fists crackling with energy.

It was inevitable, really, that his exploits would eventually lead him to the Warzone around the crashed Rikti Mothership. His hatred for the destroyers of his world rekindled, the Chief hurled himself into the fight with every fibre, serving Vanguard day and night. It was not long before the Rikti began to fear the sight of the white and red armour, the flying cape, and the Kaarin war shout; "Entor Tha'los!"

In the end, the Chief finally clashed with the Master of the Lineage of War himself; Hro'Dotz. The Chief fought the towering warrior one and one, blow for blow for nigh on an hour. In the end, however, even the bulwark that was the Chief was worn down, Hro'Dotz pounding him into the dirt.

It seemed the battle was lost, the team the Chief had led being pushed back by the now-confident Rikti. It was not to be the end of the tale, however...

The reason the Chief survived his passage through the Void was made clear as a monstrous explosion tore through the Rikti ranks. The Chief was lifted off the floor, pure energy flowing around him, molding his body into a new, refreshed form. His optics glowed like the sun, fists shining with pent up energy. Hro'Dotz guards were cut down in droves, and this time the Chief beat the War Leader to a standstill, allowing the rest of the Vanguard team to bring their firepower to bear. Even though the Rikti Commander managed to teleport away, the battle was won.

The explosion of pure energy, a combination of light and darkness, was the result of the two Kheldians that had fused with the Chief during his journey in the Void, in the first known incedent of robot and Kheldian fusion. Alpha, the Peacebringer, and Omega, the Warshade, a yin and a yang that had been kept safe, albeit unknowingly, by the Chief. And now came the time for them to re-pay there debt.

The Chief fights on, his war against crime and villainy as unending as that of the Freedom Phalanx. He does what he can to help the people of the city, and the fledgeling heroes that rise by the day. He serves with the same unwavering sense of justice and the same steely resolve, his hatred for the Rikti Lineage of War as strong as ever. He will not rest until Earth and its people can know true, everlasting peace.
