The Hyperion Watchmen are funded by the billionaire businessman James Carter (also a member). Because of his company's funding, the Watchmen can get hold of pretty much everything they might need.

[edit] Headquarters

The Bunker... It has a concealed entrance in King's Row, Paragon City, USA.

[edit] Equipment

[edit] The Costume

Every Watchman above security level 20 is given a costume in the design of Hyperion Star's original made from material infused with energy from a piece of the Hyperion 7-10 comet that gave him his powers. The Watchmen have found that the costume helps them control their powers, as if it is like an enzyme or key, allowing their body, mind and powers to work together.

[edit] Watch-Comm

All Watchmen have lightweight communicators with an almost invisible receiver worn in the ear and an equally unobtrusive microphone worn on the jawline. The communication system has several channels: 1-3 for operational teams, 4 through which all SG members can talk to each other, 5 which can be picked up by everyone wearing a receiver in the immediate area, and 6 which can be accessed by coalition members.

[edit] Watch-Net

The Watchmen wear a lightweight navigation system on their wrist. This can be used to show the location of other Watchmen or even coordinates for a rendezvous. The system can also recieve information from The Bunker's mainframe, such as maps of the city, plans of buildings and information on known criminal groups. Watchmen can choose to view the screen on their wrist or it can be sent via a wireless connection to another device (this is why so many Watchmen wear glasses or visors).

The latest modifications to the Watch-Net suite is micro-circuit bio-scanners, enabling the gear to keep track of basic life-signs and bio-rythyms. Any sudden and unnatural changes to the life-signs of a Watchman with this gear trigger an instant alert across the network. With a code-red level drop in bio-signs, the device triggers instant teleportation to the medi-bay, though this has override settings at both ends to prevent anyone ever being transported to an unmanned or non-functional medi-bay.

[edit] Equipment Belt

Watchmen wear a series of ampules on their belt. Most contain Hyperdex (see below) but up to five can be adapted for the individual’s needs. For example, Bastinado has a survival kit in one with compass, wire saw, matches etc; explosive charges in another and his cigarettes in a third.

[edit] Ampules

Due to hazards encountered in the field, most Watchmen carry three specific ampules on their belt in addition to Hyperdex. One is the Lifegiver rebreather device that combines a small supply of oxygen concealed in the suit with exhaled air meaning that the user can enter a gaseous environment or go underwater for up to seven minutes. Another is the Flashmite, a compact, high powered flashlight that can provide an hour of use before needing to be clipped to the belt where it is recharched by energy converted from the wearer's movement. Finally, the Starburst which with a sharp twist emits an emergency flare.

[edit] Hyperdex

Hyperdex is a serum which can partially inhibit the powers of a Watchman.

All Watchmen (who got their powers during the Rivera Incident) now carry Hyperdex in ampules on their belts and are instructed to administer it if they sense they may be in danger of a "power overload" which Watchmen often refer to as "going nova". Each Watchman's supply of Hyperdex has been adapted for their own biology and extent of their powers, and each batch is colour-coded accordingly.

Watchmen are warned not to use other's supply of Hyperdex! A batch prepared for someone whose powers are more invasive (ie Solar Flare or High Burn) may be fatal for someone who seems less changed by the incident (such as Bastinado).

Hyperdex is not a cure; it's effects are temporary and by no means guaranteed. The Doc, with additional funding from Mr Carter, is now working on Hyperdex 2, which he hopes could result in a stable power inhibiter or even a cure.

Hyperdex has been used for other purposes too. Dr. Furnace injected it into the brainstem of Dr. Moss to make sure he did not come back from the dead. It was also filtrated into the cell containing Penny Black to make sure she remained in the more compliant persona of Penelope Suarez and negated her rather unpleasant abilities of body contortion and spitting venom.
