He is a serving office in the British army .. currently assigned to the British Foreign Office as a military attaché , this is to allow him to work with many international organisations . He is on Vanguard reserves list . He has served with MI6 , NATO, UN , Australian Defence Force , and C (Special Duties) Company 1st Regiment AFM , Ourobros , Chushi Gangdruk , and worked with the CIA and the US armed forces.

Even though he tries very hard he is very much out of date .. he has learnt to deal with the modern world , but retains his traits from his upbringing and the era he was born into ...he always plays a straight bat , believes in far play , thinks any villain is a rum sort and a cad , has that taint of superiority of one born when Britain ruled the world . He does belive that there is a right way to do evertything ... the English way.

A British officer serving in India in 1857, at the time of the Indian Mutany , as a young officer he was sent with a small unit of troop to locate and bring to saftey some Europeans reported in the hills to the north east of Lahore , in the foot hills of the Himalayas .. these he found , but they reported another group further east in the higher reaches .. duty bound he sent his charges and men back to Lahore , and then went on alone to save the other fellow Europeans .... A few days later he found sign of them , in a fight with rebel troops .. rushing to help he was shocked when they activated a Ourobros portal , and he was drag through it by the Europeans to save him ...
He was brought to the year 2012 , but keept isolated at the Ourobros base , however the time travel had a odd effect .. it switched on hidden Meta mutant powers... he was instructed about keeping the secret of time travel , and sent back as they said he was needed in the time line ...
Once back he managed to hide is powers for a number of years until he noticed he was not aging like his fellow officers ... ..
Having good family conections he was able to arrange a meeting with a certian Officer in the War Office that dealt with most secret matters ..and he informed him of his powers , but not how he got them ... from that day he has worked for the British goverment as a most secret operative ....
He is in fact ranked Lt Col in the army .. but is technically retired and recalled as and when he is needed , so he hold no command position .
His cover name Captian Smyth came about from a bit of a joke .. in his ealry days as a operative for the british goverment they wanted a code name for him .. some joker said that he should be made into a myth to cover his tracks , and another said be should have a very comman name to hide behind .. like brown or smith.. and the two ideas met and produces Smyth ..
He has used other names over the year for certian operations ....
His powers have never been massively powerful , he works best aiding others , and normally operates in a covert manner ...

He smokes a pipe and cigars ..its seems odd most dont these days .. He drinks , sherry , brandy , good scotch , wine with dinner .. and drinks a lot of tea .. he will drink coffee to fit in .. He is a keen golfer , and still turns out for his local cricket team if he is in the UK
