In his late teens, Tony found his life consumed by two things. His passion for journalism (at that time, freelance, and working for his college newspaper) and the gym. He rapidly earned a reputation as a hard working, keen and fearless frontline journalist, getting images from the front lines of meta-human conflicts. By the age of 26 he had already scooped several awards for his journalism. But running parralel to this success, he had taken his body building to it's max, with a gruelling regime of 5 am starts with 4 hours working out everyday. When questioned why he was pushing himself so hard in both fields, he would casually answer 'What else I got?' His trophy cabinet continued to fill up with awards for both, including 'Best Natural Human Body, 93-94'

[edit] Big Break

At the peak of of his physical condition, Tony was given an assignment in Kings Row to get photos and make notes on an attempted bank robbery by a gang of Hellions. Behind police baricades, he watched, listened and waited, as the vault doors were blown apart, and the gang started to make their escape. Furious at the lack of any capes in any shape or form, he leaped the blockades, and single handedly halted the robbery, beating several Hellions into a pulp, before returning the looted cash to officials. Despite spending several weeks in and out of hospital due to various cuts and fractures he sustained during his heroics, he developed a desire to help out more. Over the coming months, he was sighted intervening in more and more crimes, fighting shoulder to shoulder with heroes often. He developed a costume' of sorts (in actual fact, his body building gear), and the press started to enthusiastically report the activities of 'the self-made man, journalist and body builder, BODY PRESS'

Gradually, Tony semi-reluctantly became a role-model for non-super humans everywhere, fighting the good fight with nothing other than his own grit and strength. He started to shun the help of mutants and magic powered capes, and was often seen promoting the Earth-for-Humans campaign. Succesfully fighting off numerous attacks on paragon from Skulls, Hellions and other low level gangs, with the help of various other naturally powered humans (such as archers, gunmen and acrobats), his small movement was starting to make waves in the hero community. Small pockets of humans began rioting for what Tony preached, and the people marched the streets.

[edit] Fall from grace

Seemingly untouchable, Body Press started to form a loose band of naturally powered heroes, the Human Defence Front (HDF), which begun to take on more impressive foes and tasks. Reports came in suddenly of an attack on a Steel Canyon scientific research building and the HDF mobilized. Through police scanners and various sources, they learned of various other super groups being inbound to the disturbance. Calling in all his sources and connections with the media, he put out word that the robbery reports were a hoax, and there was nothing at all to be dealt with in Steel Canyon. Upon arrival, a large group of Arachnos were tearing through the building with Spider drones and Arbitrators. The HDF were badly defeated, losing several members, letting the Arachnos forces tear the building apart.

[edit] Redemption

The initial fallout from the Steel Canyon was terrible. Arachnos stole vital research and data, as well as the innocent death toll reaching nearly 145. Disgraced, and generally hated, the HDF were disbanded, and Tony Ericson returned to journalism, taking tasks such as Mall openings and National Holiday events. Whilst gradually building up his career again, he was given the task of photographing the re-opening of a noted Paragon City university, with various dignitries present. At the cutting of the ribbon, an explosion rang-out and bullets whizzed through the air taking out security staff, as several senior politicians were rushed and pinned down by a rogue gang of thugs. Without a second though, Tony, dressed in shirt and tie, with V.I.P badge still on rushed in, beating of a dozen of the men holding the hostages. As gun fire erupted, he pinned down several innocents under his large frame, as several bullets tore into his lower back, leading to him blacking out through loss of blood. Surviving after surgery and weeks of recovery time, he was presented an honourary medal for bravery by the PPD chief, and given a folded cape, in recognition of his value to the city as a hero.

Now approaching 40, his hero days are all but behind him, taking the occaisonal distress call in his home area of Kings Row. He recently received a V.I.P pass for Pocket D, on behalf of talks with the Paragon Times and DJ Zero, in the grounds of furthering connections and events in Paragon City. Still answering every phone call regarding every rampaging Giant Monster or Bank Robbery, and still entering various Worlds Naturally Strongest Man contests, he is a regular sight around Paragon city.
