Friends & Allies:

Supergroups:

Blue Rush is a member of the supergroup know as Ancient Legacy, whose members are among his closest friends in this era; other heroes he has a strong friendship with are those from the supergroup known as 'The Eclipse of Evil', especially Dr. Moon, Dr. Sun, Nuclear Lad, The Dramatist, Dimitry2020, and the powerful couple made by Lady Violet and DarkBerserk.

Sidekicks:

During his exploits in Paragon City, Blue Rush has saved the life of little Timothy Jordan. Timothy is a mutant with electrical powers; willing to imitate his hero, he made a costume and assumed the masked identity of Kid Rush. Seeing that there was no way he could talk little Tim out of being a hero, he started to train him, so to be able to keep an eye of him at the same time. After a while, he discovered that Tim is the brother of Electro-Cute, one of his fellow members in Ancient Legacy, and among his first companions in the fight against crime in Paragon City. Tim was believed to be dead with the rest of Electro-Cute's family, so it was a real joy for Blue Rush to be able to tell her that at least her brother had survived the massacre.

Very recently, another heroine donning a costume similar to his, and calling herself Lady Rush, has surfaced in Paragon City. Her motives for choosing the name and uniform, and her real identity, are still a mystery.

Sworn Enemies:

The worst enemy of Blue Rush is definitely the mad nihilist genius know as Dr. Mechanix, and its own villains' league, called The Dukes of Annihilation. Between the members of the Dukes, there is the most dangerous of Mechanix's creations, the cyborg called Black Rush, a nemesis conceived by the evil Doctor specifically to tackle Blue Rush and give him a run for his powers.

[edit] Personality

Daryl is a man who found himself suddenly projected into an ancient world, that he doesn't fully understand. In the future he came from, things were very different; better for many aspects, but also worse for some others. He tries to cope with life in the 21st Century as best as he can, but it's not always easy. However, he basically always managed to retain his good spirit and optimistic attitude, so far. He always hopes to be able to go back to his own era, one day, to see his family again. But at the same time, he's getting more and more fond of the 21st Century and its people...

Daryl Daimon, AKA The Blue Rush, comes from the future.

Born in the Paragon City of year 3006, Daryl always wanted to join the PPD, like his father, and his grandfather before him. He went through Police Academy with very good grades, thanks to his determination to aid his fellow men and carry the legacy of his family. When he was finally at the end of the basic courses, and ready to go out on the streets, the trainers informed him that the routine bio-genetic and psychological tests he had been going through when he joined the force had shown that he was a very good candidate for one of the Elite Corps of the PPD: the Speed Police!

The Elite Corps had been created at the end of the 30th Century by the PPD in order to fight the rising wave of super-powered crime; these Corps only accepted as candidates those whose profile, both on the physical and psychological side, was a perfect match with their very high standards. After being put through all kinds of tests and trials, the few that had managed to get through were finally transformed into super-powered beings by the injection of self-repairing, self-replicating nanites in their bloodstream. Every Corps had a different kind of nanobot, giving different powers.

The Speed Police members were granted control of kinetic energies, effectively giving them the capacity to slow down or accelerate objects and people (themselves included) at will. Standard training included how to move at superspeed, slow down fleeing criminals, and even accelerating the molecules of air itself to create powerful sonic attacks.

The day Daryl was officially proclaimed a Speed Police officer, his whole family was the proudest one in all of Paragon. He was young, daring, respected, and had all of his life in front of him...

Or behind? Destiny plays tricks sometimes.

After a couple of years since the beginning of his career, and many successful cases, Daryl and his team were dispatched to Portal Corporations for a rescue mission. A classified experiment had gone wrong, and the place blown to kingdom come. Arriving on Peregine Island, the Speed Policemen immediately started removing the rubble and looking for survivors, while at the same time using their powers to try and put out some of the fires. They soon found out that some of the scientist working on the experiment were still alive, but half of them seemed to be aging at incredible speed, one year a minute, while the other half were actually... Aging backwards! Daryl and his squad frantically tried to use their powers to stabilize them before they either died of old age or disappeared out of existence, but there was little they could do. In the middle of the destroyed lab, there was a spherical distortion field, pulsating like a living thing. Daryl looked inside it, and saw a kaleidoscope of images that seemed to come from ages past, and others he didn't recognize. The field was trembling and crackling. Daryl tried to scream to his squad to get out, but his voice seemed to be at the same time incredibly slow and incredibly fast, impossible to understand. Concentrating all his power, he moved faster than he had ever done, and managed to carry all of his fellow policemen out, as well as the surviving scientists. The last one of them, though, was trapped under a hunk of concrete too big for him to lift. Daryl was still desperately trying to knock it off, when the distortion field... Exploded!

Waking up, Daryl found himself in the middle of Peregrine Island. The Portal Corporation's buildings were... Different. Intact, first of all. And a lot different. A strangely garbed man, with a red bow on his back, gave him a hand and lifted him up.

"Hey, fellow hero. What happened? Teleport machine gone awry?"

Daryl instinctively kicked into speed mode. His brain working at an amazing pace, he recollected memories, reviewed all information, put all the clues together - as per his Police Academy training - and finally... Realised.

"Not exactly", he answered to the archer, "can I ask you a strange question?"

"No worries", answered the man, "we're used to it in Paragon City."

"What year is this?"

"Why, it's 2006 mate."

A million thoughts passed in a second in Daryl's mind. He was in 2006! He was back in the Age of Heroes, living in the same period that his father used to talk him about in his bedtime stories. Stranded, away from home, with no means of going back to his family. He was shocked, excited and sad at the same time. The man with the bow looked at him for a long moment, then introduced himself.

"Pleased to meet you. My name is Manticore. And yours is... ?"

"Daryl. And I could really use a hand here..."

"Thought so."

In the months that followed, the Freedom Phalanx helped Daryl to understand a bit better the strange world that he had found himself in. While Positron promised to help him find a way back to the future and his family, he also knew that there were no guarantees, and that Daryl therefore needed to start a new life in 2006 anyway. Calling in a few favors, he managed to forge him a fake ID, and find him a place in Paragon University as a librarian. A job giving Daryl the chance to get to know that day and age better, day after day.

After a while, with the help of Synapse, he also created the masked identity of Blue Rush, the Sapphire Speedster, in order to once again put his powers to good use in a way that suited the City of Heroes of the 21st Century. A good choice, that also gave him the chance to meet other heroes and people, as uncommon and strange as he feels to be, in that primitive environment. Joining the supergroup know as Ancient Legacy, Blue Rush has found a band of brothers that he can trust with his life, not unlike his Speed Police squad; this, and the thrill of becoming an almost mythical figure in Paragon (as opposed to a simple, however Elite, Speed Policeman) is making him less and less anxious of going back home.

Nevertheless, Daryl has a family in the 31st Century, and can't stand the thought of never seeing them again. So, while making friends and fighing against all evil, he continues his quest for a functioning time machine. And unlocking the secrets of Portal Corporations, Crey and the like might only be the first step...

It's Rush Hour!
