[edit] Character History

This section is a summary of the story's from "The Cadre: Baptisms".

[edit] Act 1 - The Aliens

A young man flees his family home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, leaving his father to his fate as the Rikti invade nearby Boston to the West and Paragon City to the South, in the First Rikti War. It is evident that the two men are at odds about Faith, in particular the family's Roman Catholic heritage which the son denounces. It is also revealed that the family's mother died a long time ago, and the son alludes to the fact that his Father has been a poor parent.

Later we discover the Son has taken a fishing boat named the "Mary" out onto the open waters and has been drifting at sea for 42 days. A woman is with him named "Sarah", who reveals his name to be "Luke". It's unknown how the pair know each other, but they are relieved to find dry land on the horizon after so long at sea.

Making their way onto a beach of black Volcanic Sand, they head into the forest, hand in hand. It's evident that they are have a relationship. Sarah calls Luke her Hero.

A few moments later and the pair fall into a trap. A bear pit has been excavated in front of a lonely looking Sign in the middle of the woods. Luke passes out after the fall.

Later, as Luke awakens he can only hear Sarah having a conversation with a British woman at the top of the Pit. Face first in the mud, the British Woman calls Luke by the name "Rak'ha" and tells Sarah that they've been expecting them.

[edit] Act 3 - The Awakening

Deep inside a cave on the same mysterious beach. Sarah shoots Luke through the chest with a pistol and then turns the gun on herself. Before he dies, Rak'ha thanks Sarah and licks the blood from his fatal wounds.

Later, it is evident that the Cave's magical properties have aged and decayed Sarah and Rak'ha/Luke's bodies until they are brittle and fragile. As Luke/Rak'ha's body collapses into dust on the sand in the cave, a brilliant Blue Aura blasts from the cave entrance.

[edit] Act 4 - The Capture

In Miami Florida a party in a Mansion is interrupted by screams and Terror as The Black Golem slaughters every single last one of them. 261 young men and women are cut down, stabbed and suffocated by the monster.

[edit] Act 5 - The Escape

??????????????

[edit] Act 6 - The Ziggursky

In the Ziggursky Prison we find that Golem is now held indefinitely in the D Block where special prisoners are kept and Solitary Confinement is located. Golem's cell is specially designed so that there is no way in or out for the shape shifter who can pass through practically any obstacle given a wide enough gap. He isn't fed, and becomes a well known inmate. Over the years, many Wardens and Arcane Researchers try to study Golem. He claims the life of one of them and seriously injures a prison Warden who has Sonic Powers. This Warden is perversely placed on duty permanently as the Black Golem's personal guard.

[edit] Act 7 - The Cadre

A Man calling himself Mister Townsend claims to be The Black Golem's lawyer and Makes a deal with Golem's Prison Warden to procure a private meeting with Rak'ha in an interview room. As he blocks out all communication and digital recording with a small Black Box, he presents a case file to Rak'ha and tells him that a man named Mr. Mason wishes to form a Cadre of Villains from certain inmates from D Block who will be granted freedom so long as they serve him. Golem agrees to all of the terms stating that he hasn't served anyone since 'Her' and Townsend makes his leave.

As the Lawyer reaches the exit, the Black Golem makes good on the Warden's warning to Townsend, and kills him by Suffocating him with his own body, whispering to Townsend that "He will understand." referring to the mysterious Mr. Mason. After being returned to his cell and having his sentence increased the Golem bides his time until the opportunity to escape is presented him.

The Cadre

[edit] Personality

Sporadic bursts of Violence intersect vast periods of utter silence. He barely speaks a word, but usually when he does, it's fatal for the man standing closest to him.

[edit] Motivation

It is believed that the Black Golem was conditioned by a Mu Cult somewhere off the Eastern Seaboard of North America. Given his testimony in court, the island is believed to be near to Sharkhead Island in the Etoile Island, given it's history and links to the Cult of the Mu.

[edit] Powers

The Black Golem is a living entity built from the forsaken Sands of Mu believed to be from the shores of Sharkhead Isle's or a nearby land mass. Like an advanced form of the Slag Pile monsters who are Magical Golem constructs animated by the Magic present in the soil on Sharkhead Island.

With the power of the Black Sands infused into his body, the Golem can just as easily split himself into a great cloud to fly on the wind, form deadly spikes anywhere around his body or move through tiny openings in walls, doors or practically any surface.

[edit] Vulnerabilities

Through testing carried out by Wardens and Classified Arcane Guests in the Ziggursky Prison the Black Golem's only weaknesses have been outlined as;

  • Sonic Frequencies - In general Sound waves, or Blast waves are the most effective means of disrupting The Black Golem's ability to bind. He becomes detached and is forced into a cloud like state, and is unable to fully focus on a target. It has been theorized on more than one occasion that this is why Golem prefers to remain silent.
  • Water - Golem is slowed down significantly on contact with water. His molecules become heavy and he is unable to take flight or shape shift quickly. He also loses his ability to remain in his base Humanoid state.

Note The Golem is a proficient Swimmer and is only impaired by Water when wet and attempting to move on dry land. This includes when leaving water after swimming.
