Big Mick
From Handbook of the Union Universe
I wanted to combine my biggest loves in life - Sin City (in particular Marv), rugby and boxing, drinking, Irish culture and hero-ing. Big Mick is the end result :D.

[edit] Personality and Motivation
Mick has a deep, entrenched set of values he has picked up over the years and it is almost impossible to get him to stray from these. He places the well being and safety of others before his own, even to the point of risking his own life for a stranger. He is incredibly generous, taking care of those he loves. He is an excellent team player, though he is a natural leader. Mick enjoys the simple things in life such as good food, good drink, good company and good music.
His sense of humor is quite coarse and this, combined with his immense size, often leads people to write him off as stupid and oafish. To underestimate Mick this way however is very dangerous as he has not survived for this long and got so far without some modicum of intelligence. He has proven himself exceptionally quick witted and when it comes to making attacks he enjoys paying attention to detail to make sure his friends and team mates aren't injured.
However Mick still has a rash side that rears itself during fights in the form of blood lust. He has been known to roar with laughter and sing whilst beating men to bloody pulps. He has also shown an incredibly dark side when it comes to dealing with threats to his family. He has no hesitation killing and torturing those who he believes deserve it.
[edit] Character History
Born in 1960 to Timothy and Mary McBride few could ever have imagined the future that lay in store for young Michael McBride.
The eldest of ten children, Mick quickly took on the role of his siblings protector in both the school yard and the roughest streets of Galway. Mick soon learned all the dirty tricks in the book in his effort to fend off attackers and developed a name for himself on the streets.
However Mick's scraps could not go unnoticed forever and it wasn't long before he came to the attention of the police. On his seventeenth birthday Mick was dragged home by the police after he had introduced someone's face to the curb the hard way. His father, instead of beating him, assured the police he would deal with it. He then took Mick to the local rugby club and left Mick to train with the senior team. Mick still remembers the battering he received at the hands of those men and grins broadly every time he tells the tale for it was on the rugby pitch that his character developed. Mick learned how to reign his temper in (mostly), the value of teamwork and looking after your mates and how to get revenge when people least expected it.
It was about this time that Mick also began to box as well. His ability to soak up damage, combined with his lethal right hook soon earned him fame.

[edit] Vulnerabilities
Mick, despite his hardiness, is still only human and as such suffers from all the frailties of the flesh. He is also a danger to himself when he succumbs to the blood rage.
[edit] Plot Advice
Mick, his family and his businesses could be used in any plot involving Kings Row.
