[edit] Before Creation
The history of the portal dates back over one million years, the beings known as the Karmenarthan's wished to seek out and conquer all dimensions which did not already follow their beliefs. The Karmenarthan's were an ancient demon race who believed power should be gifted only to those who can and will use it for the good of their kind, however being a group who had very little technological ability in a world which was ever changing (as at this point Karmenartha was going through it's industrial phase)the demons decided to bring together their amassed knowledge of the arcane in order to create a weapon which could be controlled and ordered to do as they wished.
The spell was a wicked and cursed ancient ritual forged by the darkest of minds within the magick order, the creatures assembled each of the components into creating their 'ultimate weapon' and recited their spell to create their savior. The result of the ritual couldn't have turned out better for the demon race they had their weapon and he had the will to use his awesome strength for their own good.

Azarath had been 'born' the portal as he is known in the lost scrolls, was a being with the inate ability to tear open portals in time, space even through dimensions to get to where he needed to be, bringing only destruction in his wake.
an extract from the Karmenathan scroll is listed below:
"The being was perfect, strong, handsome, powerful and deadly all at once. Our people saw him as our savior, the one thing that could bring us our redemption. The boy learned fast following in the great mages teaching of the Soul Shaping, an ability where ones soul could be projected into various uses. Azarath seem's to prefer the idea of a winged beast within his soul forms.. we are trying to change this although the boy has little want to."
"Teaching was one of Azarath's many time usages, he was taught to control his elemental balances, to read, write, speak, act, how to play music, everything out peoples culture allowed, then.. came the art of war. Azarath flourished in this field, his raw power and unsurpassed emotional control allowed him to make full use of the soul shaping abilities of our people, he vanquished the entire higher council in under four days."
[edit] Rebellion
Once Azarath had been taught everything the tribe could release to him, he thirsted for more knowledge, the tribe however let something slip which they shouldn't have.
The portal was a weapon.. through and through and as with all weapons some have to be destroyed, Azarath was set to be destroyed as soon as he tore open the last barrier to earth.. he was to destroy everything living on the planet so that the Karmenarthan's could simply lay down their villages and cities and start over on a fresh earth.. however this mean that Azarath would have to die, and he didn't want any part of this.
Azarath destroyed Karmenartha killing every single being alive in the dimension and tore open a portal, fleeing into the dimensional netways.
[edit] The years to follow
Through the years Azarath landed on many worlds seeking knowledge where he could and lodging for as long as his time would allow, or until the general populace realised what he was, at which point he would destroy the world and move onto another.
Azarath's power spread far and wide until he came upon the dimension of the renerasu, a simple people who were a warrior shaman tribe, Azarath was welcomed despite all of his past wrong doings and soon came to loose the bottling effect he had on his emotions, he fell in love with one of the tribes females and later had a son Erion Renaru named after the Renerasu rather than azarath seeing as he detested his creation, however time did not allow Azarath to remain any longer, the tribe was at war and the only hope Azarath had of sparing this one place was to leave, and fast.
[edit] Family
Nineteen years later of drifting aimlessly through the dimensions Azarath came upon the planet known as earth, he landed in a place known as Brickstown within paragon city and was mistaken for a zig escapee, being thrown in the zig for another year Azarath gave up on trying to use his powers until a night of an arachnos break in attempt, the dampening field on azarath's cell was weakened and he destroyed it leaving for the rogue isles draining a few guard of life force as he went.
It was here that he was found by the Court of the Blood Countess and taken in under their wing, he later came to have feelings for the countess and things progressed however when their daughter died Azarath blamed Elizabeth for the loss and left with a severe hatred for the group.
He passed the time by doing various odd contact jobs for whoever came with it until he met Demonic and Battle Tank (his son and a friend) Azarath hunted Dem down to attempt to re-create the portal weapon that he once was, Dem however possessing very few of azaraths abilities ended up taking severe damage from the invocation and fled back to Battle Tank and Dark Aeris' home, when Azarath arrived only Aeris was home and she was struck down for even trying to lay a hand on him.
[edit] Dead?
Tank opened a blind hate for Azarath as did Dem and later Battle Tank beheaded Azarath.
Presumed dead his body was taken to the mourge in Port Oakes to await postmortem, however as the two doctors arrived at the table Azaraths headless body arched up and tore one of the doctors apart, drained the life force of the other re-growing his head and left through the roof of the morgue.
He was once again hunted down by Battle Tank, Demonic Storm and Lady Stormcrow (Demonic's finance at the time) and impaled with a demonic blade made for banishing evil.

Azarath appeared to be gone permanently, however at his son's wedding he couldn't help but come out of the woodwork to see his first born child get married.
Lately he has been seen appearing and disappearing through his own portals often bringing people back through with him, one thing is for certain, Azarath is up to something once again and this time, its big.
[edit] Recently
Azarath fell to the ToT at the start of this year, his body and soul banished for all eternity by his grandson Orion and his soul forming ability being destroyed.
In the aftermath of the battle a new being emerged from the scarred earth who called himself Azarath Karmenathis, it is currently unknown where this being is residing but he holds no memory of his previous life or his new powers.

Azarath's abilities allow him to project his soul as a weapon, using this for various ideas from telekinesis to tearing his enemies souls out through their skin.
