[edit] Powers

As a result of the total absorption of the Warshade Twilight Nebula, Abyssa's genetic structure underwent profound changes in the week or so after the Riviera incident. The combination of the human capacity for adaptability and the kheldian innate energy manipulation abilities created a unique new form. Abyssa is essentially a walking, humanoid dark matter generator. Her veins flow with charged dark matter, known to physicists as dark energy. Although at first glance her DNA looks normal, anyone with reason to study it in detail will soon note differences and alterations. Additionally, anyone with a khowledge of kheldian physiology and will be able to spot specific changes in Jennifer's DNA that correspond with mutations known to appear in long-term hosts. A side-effect of her body being permeated with dark matter is that Abyssa is essentially invisible to methods of seeing energies, either magical or technological. Instead, she appears as a void in the energy flow, around which energies either move, or are absorbed into.

[edit] Weaknesses

Although her genetic structure is significantly different from the norm, she is still essentially human, and so the usual methods of incapacitation will generally work just as well on Jennifer as they would anywhere else. Also, as a result of the direct absorption of Twilight Nebula, Jennifer shares the kheldian weakness to Nictus weaponry, making quantum array guns and the Void faction especially dangerous to her.

[edit] Abilities

Although she does not have the shapeshifting abilities of a kheldian host, Jennifer can use the dark matter flowing through her in many different ways, either bolstering her physical form or creating shields of charged particles in defense, and releasing blasts of dark energy at foes in attack. She can also use the residual energy remaining in fallen enemies to revitalise herself, or couple it to a seed of dark energy and release the resulting massive exothermic reaction. Perhaps her most disturbing ability is to send a spark of dark energy into the mind of a defeated foe, allowing it to map the brain-wave patterns and re-emerge with a rudimentary, and temporary conscience. The intelligence thus created is akin to an artificial intelligence, and this allows Jennifer to place a portion of dark energy within the spark, the "AI" able to utilise it with devastating effect. The brain-wave mapping constantly degrades, however, eventually being unable to retain integrity, and then collapses back into undifferentiated dark matter.

[edit] Character History

(Work in progress) Jennifer never wanted to be different. She just wanted to be a normal girl. Unfortunately that choice was taken away from her when her parents met, fell in love, and her mother became pregnant with her. Unbeknownst to either of them, they both had particular, rare, recessive genetic mutations; ones that combined in Jennifer to leave her with a somewhat unpleasant hereditary disease.
